I know this isn't aff marketing, but it is how I built my capital to get into the game.

I used to do this about a year ago, it made me a few grand a month profit. I don't do it anymore so I will share it and hopefully it can help someone get their start in AM.

Things you need:

1. Ebay account (free)
2. Paypal account (free)
3. File hosting (probably free)
4. 30 mins to write some text
5. $60 to cover a few start up costs

Here we go:

Step one sign up for ebay and look in these sections:

eBay – Advertising Opportunities, Everything Else and items on eBay.com. Find IT on eBay.

eBay – Information Products, Everything Else and How-To Guides items on eBay.com. Find IT on eBay.

eBay – Websites Businesses for Sale, website and adsense items on eBay.com. Find IT on eBay.

Sort by price highest to lowest, and you are looking for a product that can be digitally delivered and has actually made sales.

I sold bulk email lists, this was my bread and butter and I can almost guarantee there is still a market for it.

Step 2 purchase your best competitors product.

This is where part of your $60 comes in to play. You buy multiple products, this works especially well if the product is quantity based. IE 50 million emails, or 350,000 flash templates. This way you put your competitors products together add the numbers and you have a superior product!

Step 3 zip your files and host them on a digital download site ( I used my own server, but I'm sure there are services that will host for free)

Step 4 google what you are selling, find some text and images to fill out your ebay product page, do it right the first time and you can use it over and over.

Step 5 put your product up on ebay, run it for 7 days, in the featured auction spots, bold with pictures in listings (I tried all combos of listing types and this was by far the best for me). Set it up with a limited quantity like 30 or so and set your price comparable with your competitors and have your superior quantity highlighted in your text add.

Step 6 have pre written email with download link location and username and password if you use leeching protection for when users purchase.

Step 7 bada boom bada bing you're in business watch the money pile up!

not sure but i think they put an end to bulk email sales on ebay...don't think they are big on supporting spam / scams

Yah I had a few of my listings taken down, but 90% stayed up. You don't have to do this with bulk email lists, thats just what I found worked.

Started buying some packages, the one problem I can see is that I'm going to be selling something which is absolutely huge in terms of gigabytes. I doubt my server can take many people downloading it, so I'm going to have to find a free download site which doesn't have any restrictions, does anyone have any suggestions?

This looks promising, I've picked out a few packages already.

I think I'm going to sign up for a cheap hostgator package to distribute the files, it's the only quick way of doing it without crippling my other servers.

Currently I'm just downloading the stuff I've bought.

I was going to take all the free eBooks that I get on forums and sell them back to people in one huge package. I never thought about selling them on eBay. Even if I get $5 a package, I got all the material for free.

can anyone recommend a decent file sharing site?

I dunno if uploading all these files by ftp is really worth it, once they get too big they just time out...

If you guys want some help with researching products, check out Terapeak(aff).

Yeah that's my link, just Google them if you don't want to use it. I use it for something very similar to this post.

They basically give you access to any data you want. Want to know how many copies of that software your competitor sells everyday? What else he's selling? Anything.

Not sure if the data is 100% accurate, but it's been accurate enough to keep me subscribed for like a year now. The research has definitely made me a little bit of money.

Looks like a great tool, signing up with your aff link. Thanks. I'd bet that it is pretty accurate as ebay displays most of this info - just depends how good the spider is at grabbing it. (Accurate compared to those tools that tell you how much people are bidding on PPC keywords, at least!)

For those of you concerned with file size for info products you can find apps that will zip 1gig of info to around 50MB. It will just take haveing a good PC to do the compression and waiting for it to get done.

Google programs for obfuscation. I do something similar to the OP, but with intellectual property.

I used to do this for big money back in the day when they allowed lists on wholesale vendors for Jordans, AF1's, Gucci, etc. You could sell the lists $100 a pop all day. Haven't thought of it much since then, but a great idea if you need a jumpstart into marketing.
