Ebay spend how much on adsense!

Ran 5 different campaigns I know everything about. It was not even in the ballpark on any of them. One it missed by a factor of 30. Why would Ebay be any more accurate?

Ebay is Google's largest customer, they spent $500 mill for 2005 (no idea about 06)
That's why Google isn't trying too hard to push G-Checkout for auctions, they don't want to upset their biggest client.

Put it this way.. Back in 98-99 when I was doing consulting SEO work on the side for this one big firm, ebay was a client and spending over $20M a month back then, and they had just about every keyword you could ever imagine. I mean the lists were fucking massive. Gigs full of excel files of keywords, because back then, there were no API's for kw's to make the life of an SEO/SEM easier, so most of the shit you had to do was by hand submissions, not to mention they were buying the entire keywords for MSN.com at the time as well. Money is of no object with them, and why should it be, I mean, their overhead is fucking tiny compared to what they make.

My guess is ebay is spending over $4M a day at least. They bid on every fucking keyword under the sun on adsense and adwords, on YSM and YPN, and on MSN, and on every small PPC engine and all of the price comparison engines. That's a lot of fucking money to be spending everyday for 365 days a year for YEARS straight already.

ebay has been making less money lately. Expect their ad budget to shrink.

I wouldn't count on it. Your logic doesn't hold because sales are a function of marketing. If they were going to cut spending they would probably cut support staff first.

These numbers might be way off but early last year I read an article saying eBay has about 32 million registered users, thats not including the ones with inactive accounts and every time I used eBay they make about 5 bucks from every auction I do and I usually deal in small auctions.

So lets just guess here and say that all 32 million registered members do one auction per day that is $160,000,000 per day.

Ok so it might not be that much per day cause that would be something in the range of $58.4 billion per year but still $200 million per year in advertising spending is pennies compared to what they make.

Run some smaller numbers that you know they are clearing and you'll still see that $200 million is minor to them.

ebay's annual revenue for 2006 was around $6 billion
their profit from that $6 billion is $4.7 billion
and the greedy fucks still raise their fees every few months

interesting numbers. i thought their overhead would be even less than 1.3 billion, it's still only a damn web site ;p
