For the Ebook haters/accai promoters

I admit,
I promoted ebooks when I was a noob at marketing. Stopped doing it because conversions were a bitch. A part of me knew I was selling snake oil too and I didn't like it.

Discovered WF a couple years back and everyone here seems to HATE the idea of selling ebooks and criticizes anyone who would even think of selling them. (not that I disagree) I personally don't do it, but won't hate on someone who does. Just don't peddle that shit on me.

The thing I don't get is how do you hate ebooks then turn around and promote accai (knowing the shit doesn't work) . Just more snake oil.
For the record.. I don't care if you could convert people through lead gen forms that lead to bagged dogshit, if it sells, more power to you. You are obviously the man if you could pull that off. :p

Just trying to find the line here.

Maybe there is a obvious answer .

hey.. I'm promoting an E-book about Acai. It's about how you don't need to exercise, and if you want it enough, and eat enough berries... you will magically get thin.

If it makes money, and won't DIRECTLY kill somebody, I'll probably try to sell it.

I think the animosity of pushing ebooks, is towards those who try to promote them to people HERE. :P, I think you'd get a very similar reaction if people were trying to push Acai berries in the Buy and Sell section of this forum. :D

It all boils down to a "where do you draw the line?" question IMO.

As far as I'm concerned, here's how I see it: we're marketers, it's our job to do whatever we can in order to make a certain product look good. That doesn't only apply to AM: I mean come on, how many of the products you've bought are actually as good as advertised (on TV, online, whatever)?

BUT:

Promoting dangerous products does NOT make you a good marketer. It makes you a douche and that's it. Here's where I draw the line:

I have nothing against writing about acai berry supplements, for example. I mean that stuff is perfectly natural: it won't help you magically lose weight (weight loss = get off your fat ass and actually work out), but it's based on a friggin fruit so at least it's good for ya in some ways. On the other hand, I NEVER (N-fucking-E-fucking-V- fucking-E-fucking-R) promote those shady weight loss pills which contain nothing but crap, make you shit your stomach out or whatever. I mean WTF, only a complete douche would be willing to promote something which is actually dangerous just to make an extra buck (or an extra 10 grand/day...whatever).

A lot of people here on WF contact me in order to write about all sorts of stuff and here's what I usually do: I do a little bit of research and if it's clear that there are no side effects involved and that everything is 100% safe then sure, I can cover it. I used to be a full-time AM and was guided by the same principle.

Ok, time to end this long-ass post already. You wanted my input so there you have it: if the product is 100% safe, there's nothing wrong with making it look good (it's your job to do just that), but if you're willing to promote unhealthy stuff for teh monies, you're a fucking douche.

you raise a good point

a lot of wf people are hypocrites i think, youll get banned for selling an ebook even if it does have some value, you'll also be labelled as a scammer. However its ok for the same people to sell acai berries with their completely fake blogs.

That's my point. All those items were "safe", and I'd guess "100% safe" by your standards, but now, the news is coming out. It's just a matter of time before Acai makes the list. You can kid yourself if you want.

People can fuck off and sell ebooks and that's fine. The animosity comes from you can't sell them here. And I suppose a bit from having to constantly delete posts where people try to anyways.

Beyond that, the people in charge of the ebooks are not respected, and I'm not going to pretend like they are. For example, if I met one of the people backing "Arbitrage Conspiracy", I'd show approximately the same level of respect that one of the Acai people would get showing up at a medical conference.
Ya dig?

so you don't care who sells ebooks, just not here?

Just like I already said after your initial post. :P That's the difference, the animosity is towards people trying to spin the shit right back at the people who would spin it themselves as if they were idiots.

If you want to go and try to sell, the sand of christ (google it), I don't have a problem with you going and doing that... just don't try to sell it to me or other folks on this forum that would know better.

lol, I seen that. If I learned anything in the last few years it's that I OVERESTIMATED the market. People will buy anything. Good points

Im fckin sick of people coming here and talking bloody ethics. What i do to get my money and why is not your business!.

Good point actually. I remember I was inspired by one of Jon's threads on Sitepoint where he showed off his CJ stats .

Then when WF was born, it was all about stopping noobs from buying scummy ebooks. Back then it was about payperclick arbritrage. .Really cool stuff, and this is what WF was all about..

But now look what's happening? We're starting to promote Grant offers, make money online bullshit, no different from the ebook fuckers. No there's a difference actually, at least those guys on WarriorForum came out honest and try to provide some value instead of just blatantly scamming people.

Unless you're on your on your second username, neither of us were around when it started.
And btw, the people at WarriorForum ARE blatantly scamming people. While I wasn't here at the beginning, it's always been my thought that WF isn't about that stuff so much as it is providing better information for free, and a place that isn't bogged down by the feel-good bullshit that is so rampant elsewhere.

Let's get something straight since Acai is inevitably coming up here again and again. It's not that it 'doesn't work'. It's got a few things in it that will help if someone's already doing the proper things. But no, it won't liquidate 25 pounds of fat overnight.
It's sold like that because that's what people will buy. No one wants a product that helps out a little bit when they eat healthy and exercise. It's not dangerous. It's been used for a variety of things for years, and actually makes you feel pretty good overall from what I've heard.
So it's not a worthless product. It's a worthless billing scheme and retarded consumers that go looking for something that doesn't exist, and not surprisingly find it.
