egypt.

It is terrible. Egypt is also completely different to Tunisia. If Egypt has a revolution like that in Tunisia then that leaves the door open to who knows how many more countries to fall.

That police station incident is confirmed on the BBC World Service. Protesters took weapons. Dozens of protesters have already been killed, some shot. Journalists, including Western ones, have been attacked and severely beaten by police. This is highly unusual for a protest. There has just been an interview with one such journalist on the World Service. He's covered in blood from a brutal beating.

Humans make me sick.

From the BBC website:

BBC Arabic reporter Assad Sawey, in Cairo, said he was arrested and beaten by plainclothes policemen.
"They took my camera away and when they arrested me, they started beating me with steel bars, the ones used here for slaughtering animals," he said.

I was just reading that 3 days ago Hillary Clinton was giving a speech about how the Egyptian Government was stable. You have to wonder if this is a coincidence or just the absolute worst timing possible.

I think it's bad intelligence gathering, desperate hope (since the US does rather like Mubarak), and yes, unfortunate timing...

I just hope they don't trade Mubarak for some religious autocrat nutjob. It'll be out of the frying pan and into the fire.

I have to admit, that would be heartbreakingly sad.

On the other hand, in Tunisia it looks like it's going the right way, with all the previous President's allies being sent away and a totally new government being formed. The current Prime Minister there looks like a decent man as well.

Set up a proxy so Egyptians can have internet?
Hmmm -- yeah I don't think so.
The US government might take a dim view of a citizen meddling in world affairs -- just a hunch on my part.

the Muslim Brotherhood is doing a lot with this, let's hope it doesn't turn into a theocracy, Iran style

in a thread where the OP is grasping for ways to help oppressed people, you think of reasons not to because big brother might be watching

its unfortunate some of our citizens have been squeezed dry of what it really means to be a freedom-loving constitutionalist American

whats left is nothing but a mouse of a man with soiled drawls

just remember Obama's trying to get the "internet off-switch" --- i wonder why. maybe he knows what's coming.

(maybe there's a market for internet clappers....)

Listen you little Bitch: while NYC was still on fire the night of 911 I got in my car and drove down there to offer my help in any way possible -- i can still taste the stench.
I hate oppresion but felt the need to point out that this might not be in a citizens right to do. Perhaps I came off a bit flipant, if so I appologize to the OP.
You can fucking blow me though.

I also think the US gov't won't like it when your server is being used on Tor for cp.

Note to self: Check for riots before booking a holiday to said destination.

lol - This is no joke - I actually do have a large amount sitting in escrow from a website sale waiting for my buyer in Egypt to release it. I've already transferred the domain name.
