ELECTION OF THE POPE

When I saw them all lined up, I was wondering what % have either
1) Straight up molested kids, or
2) Actively helped someone else get away with molesting kids, or
3) Knew/had strong suspicion of someone molesting kids but did nothing.
I feel like a scary % of those papal candidates may fit into one of those three categories, like a number that would make even the gayest of webmasters feel uneasy.

I'm not a Catholic, but I'm eagerly awaiting this shit. Normally I wouldn't give a fuck but there is a very serious division in the Catholic Church between the traditionalists and the reformists.
The reformists are the ones that have been slowly taking over the church since the mid 60's and that's where you're getting most of the gay priests and child molesters etc from. Then you have the old school that recognizes all of the problems this "reform" movement has brought to the church and they want to clean house, expose/excommunicate all the teh gays and molesters and take the church back to a more traditional role.
There is a big book of secrets from years of internal (and external) investigations that's getting handed off to the new Pope, and depending on who that is will determine what gets done with that information. I'm not an expert on the prospective candidates, but from what I understand the traditionalists are lining up behind Angelo Scola. If he becomes Pope, we'll probably see a massive house cleaning of the Church and a lot of backlash from the media complaining about the Church "taking a step back" or some shit. You know the media would love nothing more than a transgendered Brazilian child molester to take over so anything less than that will be a disappointment.

UG, there's no way reformists are the cause of the molestation. This shit goes back centuries and they even have records of it all. It used to not even be a big deal to them.

Honestly the catholic religion has been one of the most corrupt, money and power hungry fucked up organizations on earth. I would not doubt if sex with chiildren is a way of life for most of the inner circle of cardinals and the pope himself. It all reminds me of a satanic cult to tell you the truth.

I agree 100% about the marriage thing. If you're trying to place an emphasis on the importance of traditional family values, you would think you would want your priests to lead by example and be married. I would imagine the reason so many gays historically ended up in the priesthood was because there was no better place to hide for men with no interest in women. After all, up until very recently, being openly gay could jeopardize careers and affect a persons place in their community.
Which is supposedly why the traditionalists want to purge the gays now. They no longer need to hide in the priesthood so if they can get rid of the ones that have been rooted inside the church for so long then they shouldn't have that problem with them trying to get in in the future. That's the argument anyway.
That still doesn't address the problem with pedos though. Like I said, logic would say priests should not only be allowed to marry, they should be required to be married but it's still not necessarily going to prevent pedos from getting in to those positions of power. There is no such thing as "openly pedo" or whatever the term would be so they're always going to be hiding in the shadows.
Anyway, I think the whole thing is a little silly but the political maneuvering going on is pretty fascinating. Plus, I just want to see the dirt come out.
