I agred. Not to dilute the content that is already on this forum, but an email marketing section would be helpful to both who actively use email for marketing purposes and those who are trying to learn the ropes on how to effectively target customers via email.

Jon, how bout an email marketing section on a trial basis?

I'll be happy to contribute/moderate the new subforum / section.

We have been doing Email Marketing since 1998 and are currently delivering 5 million emails a day for our clients.

Well, due to popular demand via a shitload of IM's, emails and PM requests, it appears that the members here do have a say in what should be added.. so I will add an email marketing area to here as requested. We'll test it out for 3 months and see what happens.

I do want to keep it somewhat regulated/moderated so that spammers don't see it as a haven to discuss illegal things that may get me into shit. It's for legal mailers who don't violate the CAN-SPAM laws.

What the hell is this democracy crap?

I would like to know more about e-mail stuff though, so I'll go ahead and let this one happen.

I have always envied email marketers, best email database of emails I could acquire was 25k but it didn't follow CAN SPAM rules so I never send em anything

Can't wait for this to be added... By the way people send mail illegally? I'm socked!

guess socked is better than shoehorned

yeah, you'd be surprised at who is sending mail the right way. I was at Email Insiders Summit in Dec, where clients like Proctor and Gamble, Quiznos, Weather Channel, Cisco, HP, Microsoft, Target (the stores), REI, LifeScripts, IBM, and even AOL met for 3 days mostly to discuss best practices and the state of the industry. Out of the billions of subscribers represented by the group, they still only count for less than .1% of email transactions. (Meaning spammers in Russia, offshore datacenters, and your mom's basement, are sending 99.9% of all email out there).
