Ergonomic Chair Thread, Whats Your Fav?

I wish we could try out some Aeron chairs, but last time I checked there were no stores around here that carried them.

You couldn't have looked very hard.

There's a Herman Miller showroom in just about every major metropolitan city in the world. Here's the one for Houston, I'd be surprised if it hasn't been there for several years.

10 years sitting in an Aeron for 12-16 hours a day (not the same one). I fell in love with it when I was working for an ISP, so bought one for home.

I recently tried the Leap and didn't like the way it sat so I went back to my Aeron. I guess it's personal preference. The main thing people should take a way from all of this is how important your chair is. I would sit in an Aeron and work off of a folding table instead of a guess. The most expensive part of your initial office furniture set up should be your chair - by far.

ha that is my set up. i'm not ashamed

no hating here. If you have to choose then choose chair first.

Also to OP, if you are in the $400 range I would suggest (if you can't find a high quality chair in good condition on craigslist/ebay) then save the money til you can. No reason to go half way with it.

I ordered an Embody today after playing around with one at Room and Board for about an hour. I'm 6'2" (and 190lbs) and the biggest advantage by far over the Aeron in the limited test is that I could get the seat further forward towards my legs, nor did it 'waterfall' off like the Aeron does which isn't super comfortable behind my knees.

RE: Heat, given the thinner profile on the back support I could see it venting at least as well as the Aeron given my shoulders were 'free' w/ nothing touching them even though the material itself isn't as porous.

I got the white frame w/ black fabric. We'll see how it is in 3-4 weeks when it shows up.

If it's good enough for them:

Cheaply made, too comfortable to work in. Actually makes me very tired to sit in it

about to order the embody, papaya / white .. im about the same specs as you

The great thing about having a cheap POS chair is that it forces you to get up and do something else for awhile. My trustly walmart chair is like a torture rack at times, but I like the forced breaks :zzwhip:.

Funny. I have an Aeron now and have the same problems as datagator and Sonny - I don't like the way it curves down in the front and I find it actually puts pressure on my hamstrings right above the knee and makes my legs hurt after sitting in it all day. It would also be cool if I could get the seat further forward towards my knees.

The problem with the Embody is that the back of it is sooo goofy looking. Don't know if I can handle that...

You guys still love the Embody?

Yeah, loving the embody.

Get the black fabric/black frame if you don't want to draw attention to it. I got black fabric/white to actually highlight it- the thing is incredible.

I love my Verte chair. Takes a little while to adjust it precisely to your back, but once you do, the comfort is amazing. Way, way more comfortable then Aeron.

Looks great as well

Haven't tried the Embody yet - will try to stop by a showroom to test out.
