My country has been under another ruling for 500 years and bounced back. Before that it was 1000 years one of the leading military and cultural empires across Europe, giving hundreds of millions of people a language and cultural/financial hub.

Than when the Russian-Turkish war happened and my country was free and regained it's previous borders and went ahead to be the fastest developing economy in the world with the biggest army/per citizen in the world, with practicaly the best position on the continent, the western countries shit their pants, took advantage of the 5+ years of wars with all our neighbors and 2 super powers and cut our borders so we can't be a threat to them. Then WW1&2 came out and we took the wrong sides(were forced to) and then the devastating communism came along. Now we are trying to build something of this country and what is left out of it.

So, please when you are so proud of your 50 years of dominating the world, remember that is just a mere blink of an eye in the whole picture, because the teritory you are living in now was a thousand years from even being discovered, my country was telling which is a 2nd/3rd tier.

Just enjoy your dominance, don't be so arrogant, because that is just foolish and disrespectful.

1) I don't say it's right lol. It's terrible. I just point out, that it's not the game's fault. The riots are caused by social/hisotrical tension.

2) When the german army knocks at your door and the allies are far away, yeah, it sucks to us, because your are forced into WW2.

Again, just learn something about history. It's cool to know what happened before you were born.

Where did you see that? I just told that when you have a thousand year old fight with your neighboring country an two large groups from those countries meet, the fight is almost innevitable. What are those "other problems"? Everything is comming from historical problems. And that is what you don't understand and that is why I said that if you have a 250 year old country I don't blame you for not understanding. You have never fought for your land and culture, you don't have neighbors(canada&mexico - lol). If you have done those things, you would understand.

There are a lot of underlying issues with football (not soccer) - yes, the game primarily involving your feet interacting with a football. Violence over football has pretty much subsided in most west european countries. Sure, you are going to get the odd fights over rivalry and results. A lot of eastern Europe has only been free from Soviet rule for the last few decades. They are still developing their unique societies which were oppressed, ravaged and abused by the Russians.

Not to defend anyone's violent behaviour, I think this whole situation was orchestrated from the very top of the Russian political spectrum. Putin has just got back in office and they absolutely hate that their old "satellite states" are turning towards European integration. The most telling thing I read was a BBC quote from a Russian official along the lines of: "Russian fans should respect yourself, your team and your country". No mention of respecting the host nations, their citizens or absolutely anyone else. Russia is corrupt to the bone and someone needs to bury Putin.

All football haters must understand one basic thing: football is a simulation of a world war. During championships football fans enjoy their team's victory just as they would enjoy military success of their country. Except nobody's dead and cities are not ruined. If there are historical issues with the rivaling country, there is naturally a lot of steam, so beating each other up after a match is absolutely natural. That's why some of the fans travel around, to attend feasts of legalized hatred.

American football fans, on the other hand, can not really understand that, because since childhood they know a game popular in just one nation, on one isolated continent. A young nation that never really had serious outside enemies as an entity. So their 'football' carries no symbolism or meaning and does not represent international competition, it's just college kids running around holding a ball.
