I will share a funny story. Back when we were on DirectTrack one of the sales reps (name removed) decided to call me when DirectTrack was down for several hours that day due to a DDOS Attack and asked if I would like to switch over to LinkTrust. He was basically kicking me while I was down and laughing at us. Not a cool move.

Seems we made a good decision in working with HitPath. Bad thing is we have partners on LinkTrust platform. Truth of the matter you can be on a proprietary platform or even use one of the plug and play solutions out there such as DirectTrack, LinkTrust, HasOffers, HitPath and so on but if you work with a partner on a network effected by a DDOS or similar attack you are still effected.

Side note: LT seems to be back up. But it has been up and down several times now in that last few minutes alone.

All of those running PPC campaigns and freaking the fuck out about a network going down, I've got a suggestion for you:

Uptime tracker for your networks.
Slap on some tracking that has a <5minute tracking updates, and get it to send you an SMS when shit goes down.
That way, you'll have only lost 5-10 minutes worth, while you frantically pause all of your ads, and then it'll SMS you when it's back up, meaning you don't lose out when the traffic's worth sending again.

Only way you'll get caught with your pants down is when you're already in a situation that involves having your pants down.
