We have isolated the cause of the recent LinkTrust service interruption. LinkTrust came under a DDoS attack this afternoon at approximately 2:30 p.m. MST. While the scope of this attack was extensive, we were able transition to our mitigation system to restore service by approximately 3:10 p.m. MST.
Preliminary analysis of the attack indicates it is coming from Eastern Europe, and may be based in Russia.
With the help of our mitigation partner, Prolexic, we are continuing to monitor the attack and adapt our defenses appropriately. Prolexic has confirmed that the attack is fully mitigated.
We have not experienced further service interruptions since Prolexic mitigation was implemented.
We will continue to keep you up to date as our mitigation efforts continue. There will be a technical report posted to the LInkTrust Support Desk tomorrow. You will receive an email with a link to the report as soon as it is posted.
