A friend of mine (not in the biz, complete layman) tried to log into her account and found it was disabled with a link pointing to Help Center | Facebook

She's had her account for almost 4 years and doesn't do anything weird with it. Just a regular user. She talked to another friend that this happened to as well within the last 24 hours or so.

Has anyone noticed anything weird? I was wondering if maybe they were tightening filters in order to try to knock out some of you spammers out there and accidently knocking out valid accounts.

Yep I think they tightened up the filters. My friend disabled there account tried to reopen it but couldnt because they marked him as fake.

I've heard a couple people complaining on Twitter about this... some kind of hiccup that seems to have happened since the Facebook "mail" launch. Don't know what's behind it or how to solve it, but they're not the only ones it's happened to.

Happen to my gf last night, they want her to show proof of identity with a driver's license.

It seems like they're doing it to any profiles that look like they're fake.

This is exactly what I told her. Or tried to tell her (I might as well have been speaking Mandarin) I even went on Twitter to see if it was trending, but didn't see it at first glance. I did an advanced search in G with a 24 hour filter and there was *some* stuff but mostly just people going OHNOES. And nothing from facebook.

She is quite the hottie MILF, that is hilarious if that made them think she's not a real account.

I'll tell her that, it will make her day :D

Well she tried contacting them and this is the response she got:

Fake accounts are a violation of our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities. Facebook requires users to provide their real first and last names. Impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited, as is maintaining multiple profiles on the site. Unfortunately, we will not be able to reactivate this account for any reason. This decision is final.

Thanks for your understanding,

Anyone have a contact at facebook? Please PM if you would.

Facebook will be requiring proof on all accounts in the near future for those wishing to access certain features. This is in line with their intention to "build identity into the internet", enabling universal log-ins across the web (open graph), using their upcoming payment system, etc. My guess is this is a small hiccup resulting from them preparing the groundwork for these upcoming moves.
