i am pretty sure he could buy the whole banking system. Then he will laugh all the way to his bank :D

Yeah, I was just backing you up. :) Hubby used to buy WoW gold all the time so he wouldn't have to farm it. Craziness.

Oh yeah, I know. I didn't mean that to come off as rude.

BTW, I've gotten 7 of those things so far from people on Facebook. I do not reciprocate. A friend of mine (female) even asked me IN PERSON if I had seen the "present" she got me on Facebook when they were free during Valentine's. You know how you have to be kinda nice to mentally deficient persons? Yeah, I kinda felt that I had to act that way towards her for the rest of the conversation.

I'm a 28 year old man. I don't have a real burning need for a cupcake .jpg, thankyouverymuch.

Yeah, I wouldn't think that guys would be so excited about it, but virtual goods aren't always about gifting (as you know ;)), and I think that's why it works so well in so many applications. I only have one person that I am connected to (or whatever you call it) on Facebook, and that's my sister - who has gifted me several things though I have never reciprocated. lol

Oh, and I'm 28 too. We are so cool (and old).

Oh-so-old, considering our company on this board. Oh well. At least I can say stuff like, "I remember listening to Nirvana when Kurt was still alive" and other geezer stuff like that. :)

And yeah, I see your point about the gift thing. I've been running different monetization scenarios in the back of my head all day.

Haha! Oh gawd, I remember the drama from that. Ah, the memories. :D

Why don`t we create Web3.0 ???? People will start to live/work in the web totally. In DE we have many "Hartz4 Empfänger". >> Unemployed people who receive...... ähm I dont know.... something like 450$ per month.

NOW, evertyhing needs to be converted into Web3.0. MORE applications with virtual money and "earnings sharing". You could offer all unemplyed people to join your Web3.0 community. They start generating content in boards, communities, blogs, datingsites, etc..... Than you pay them out in virtual currencies, so they can buy in our Web 3.0 shops.

Perhaps we should start to create THE web3.0 currency. Than you create aff programmes for EVERY fuckn online shop. But all the aff shops you only can pay in web3 currency.

Than we offer terminals to real stores, so customers can pay there with web3 money..........and suddenly NO other currency will exist but Web3 money!
:xomunch:

I have seen the future, and it is as firewire suggests.

We will all wear silver jumpsuits, too.

Just in case anyone wants to geek out to this topic a bit more on their own, here's some more thoughts (mostly brought on by the virtual goods conference later this week):

Conversation Hub » Session: Virtual Life or Virtual Hype?
The Value Proposition of Games at The Gong Show by Andrew Parker
Virtual Goods: the next big business model
Master of 500 Hats: Fri 7/22 Virtual Goods Summit @ Stanford + a few thoughts on digital goods & platforms
Redeye VC: The Penny Gap

[via techmeme, for the most part]

I love following this topic. It's freakin' incredible the things that people put out money for. It never ceases to amaze me... Check out those revenues!
