dont tell me theres an officer with quasi police privileges in every school reigning over who goes home and who doesnt. are you people really nuts enough to let that happen?

Both the school and the officer have problems headed their way (most likely in the form of a lawsuit).

I've got kids, and anytime I decide to go up to the school and get them, I can. As parents they are your children, not the schools. Why does the school think they can hold children if the parents are there requesting that they go with them??? Crazy...

The principal, or someone else higher up at the school than the desk clerk/secretary, should have seen what was happening and immediately went to get his kids for him. And then that would have been the end of it.

Crazy is the fact you believe you have to spell that out. Or that you'd have to wait for anyone to get your kids.
 
Obviously this was the first time this Dad was there, and there was no prior history or anything of the sort!

Here's local coverage from 6ABC/WATE: The school is South Cumberland Elementary. Officer Absolute Obedience is actually Sheriff Deputy and School Resource Officer Avery Aytes. Jim Howe is the dad. Amanda Long, his fiancee, shot the video.

Aytes's boss, Cumberland County Sheriff Butch Burgess is described as saying he "hasn't seen the video and doesn't need to, because it won't tell the whole story. He says Aytes was just doing his job."

In my county, there's a sheriff's deputy referred to as a resource officer who is assigned to each of the high schools and middle schools (for a total of four, welcome to the south). While I was in school, our resource officer left her gun on the back of the toilet after using the bathroom and forgot about it. A student found it and thankfully didn't end up killing someone or herself. Then again, here in the south you're more likely to grow up around and respect guns and less likely to accidentally shoot yourself in the face because you don't know which end of the dick to suck.
 
I guarantee you, if the dad had shit his pants, he wouldn't have been arrested. The cop would change his mind as the brown lump formed.
 
This video and the lack of response to it are more important than most people realize. Probably more than the health care media mind morph that rages mass communication channels. And the lack of understanding regarding laws and children displayed within this thread amazes.

Just remember pilgrims, when you "register" your "children" you have to provide certain "papers".

Ask yourself, why was kindergarten even created? Who created it?
