Am I the only one that thinks Obama and Bush both fucking suck?
Obama and Bush have done what statists have always done, and will always do. Some think they "serve the people." Others, like myself, believe history has shown they work to their own advantage. To that end, redistributing property is one of the most effective tools in their toolbox. That could mean minimizing competition in health care, and forcing the public to buy. It can also mean awarding contracts to Halliburton and Blackwater, regulating industries from which donations are solicited, or extending unemployment benefits to 99 weeks.
As Will Rogers said, "The short memories of American voters is what keeps our politicians in office."
Motherfuckers will never understand the us can't force the middle east to like us unless they hold the strings to their pocketbooks and if they don't have a shit ton of oil they need us to buy we're shit out of luck.
Our goal was never to force the Middle East to like us.
Back in March, I posted a link to an article written by Ron Paul called "The End of Dollar Hegemony."
Here is a small excerpt...
In November 2000 Saddam Hussein demanded Euros for his oil. His arrogance was a threat to the dollar; his lack of any military might was never a threat. At the first cabinet meeting with the new administration in 2001, as reported by Treasury Secretary Paul O’Neill, the major topic was how we would get rid of Saddam Hussein – though there was no evidence whatsoever he posed a threat to us. This deep concern for Saddam Hussein surprised and shocked O’Neill.
It now is common knowledge that the immediate reaction of the administration after 9/11 revolved around how they could connect Saddam Hussein to the attacks, to justify an invasion and overthrow of his government. Even with no evidence of any connection to 9/11, or evidence of weapons of mass destruction, public and congressional support was generated through distortions and flat out misrepresentation of the facts to justify overthrowing Saddam Hussein.
There was no public talk of removing Saddam Hussein because of his attack on the integrity of the dollar as a reserve currency by selling oil in Euros. Many believe this was the real reason for our obsession with Iraq. I doubt it was the only reason, but it may well have played a significant role in our motivation to wage war. Within a very short period after the military victory, all Iraqi oil sales were carried out in dollars. The Euro was abandoned.
At the time I started the thread, Paul's article was posted on house.gov.
That link is now 404'd (conspiracy theorists... ready, set, GO!), though you can still
find the article on lewrockwell.com.
It's a good read. It exposes the machinations of our government, and reveals how statists perpetually bamboozle the populace. Worth remembering when you go to the polls in November.
