Finding decent affiliate offers as a beginner

Having decided to try running a few affiliate offers using paid traffic, I've been looking to join a network in order to gain access to some, but have run into a frustrating roadblock.

All of the advice I've read tells me to join certain "trusted" affiliate networks (likely because they want referral fees), yet all of the recommended networks seem to be run by elitist cocksuckers who only want to let "experienced affiliates" join.
AdSimilis for example told me to "get my feet wet first" when I applied. Fuck them.

It seems to be a vicious circle, and I'm not sure how to proceed. I'm thinking working directly with advertisers is my only option, but I've heard troubling things about receiving payment if I go that route.
Are there any trustworthy networks that let inexperienced affiliates join, and/or what is the best way to get started without access to network offers?

There are several:

clickbank is probably the most popular. JVZoo is another. Rapbank is used by a lot of beginners.

hope this helps

At first i would reccomend joining Peerfly, Maxbounty and Adworkmedia(incentive).

They are pretty newbie friendly and you can read Luke Peerfly's Blog to get some more ideas about how to promote which kind offers.
Good Luck!

I was able to get into exactly Peerfly, MaxBounty and Adworkmedia when I was starting with affiliate marketing. Just write a long description of your motivation and intentions/knowledge in good english and hopefully you're good to go.

I can understand the frustration, and we wish you the best as you dive into affiliate marketing. If you're hungry to learn, the sky's the limit. If you'd like to still work with Adsimilis, please PM me, and I'd be happy to get you set up. You may also want to try WolfStormMedia and AboveAllOffers, both I hear give great support to new affiliates!

Just in case you haven't signed up already, there are some paid forums I highly recommend, for new and experienced affs alike – STM and AffPlaybook. Finally, Father Finch has made some excellent premium posts that I can personally vouch are chock full of great advice and well worth the investment. You can find them here: Finch Premiums (Look ma, no ref link!)

Good luck!

Peerfly's good for starting out. That being said, you won't really get acceptable payouts (given your strategy) until you 'get your feet wet'. My strat when I first started out was to shoot for break-even, hitting the minimum payout at least once a month. Budget was $100/month on MT and it worked out. Then I'd send an email to the AM asking them to step up so that I can could start buying some real traffic. I can tell you from experience that AMs all have a wiggle room on the margins, so long as you're actually showing up. I'd buy a profit margin on relationship, and then start shopping around for better offers and rates when a $0.25 payout difference actually mattered.

Side tip: Track your shit bro.

commission junction has an auto approval system. you can get in if you just tell them how you're going to promote
