P2P.com was stolen a couple of years ago, then sold on eBay to an NBA player. The domain thief was arrested and charged with a crime for the first time in US history. Interesting article about it here.

You would think they try to help out in cases of domain theft. However, they've been included in the suit so I'm sure their lawyers have locked down everything.
As much as I like to rag on GoDaddy too, the article states the guy had his AOL email account hacked and the thief got his credentials from there to log into his GoDaddy account with. I can't see how GoDaddy can be held responsible in this case.
Yeah it's quite clear godaddy isn't responsible for the theft, as you just stated, he hacked into his AOL account, still, godaddy made themselves look bad for not playing the game, so yeah I'm surprised godaddy didnt just let em' do what they had to do.
It was so easy to steal domains from Netsol. I had a domain there registered with an email address of an ISP that I no longer had an account with, and all I had to do to get them to change it to my new email address was fax something in on letterhead that "proved" that I was the owner. I might have had to send in a photocopy of an ID too, but that would have been easy for a determined thief to counterfeit.
