Florida presidential debate, CNN (1/26)

Hey so do I, I just don't think government needs to do it. Newt said something about making a moon base a state (???) - we can't do this. The moon is independent and can't be conquered or colonized for any one nation based on UN convention (if you think we should follow it).

Mitt was a bit off base when he said there's no commercial reason to be there, which is false. Tourism, and the Moon is a major source of Helium-3, which has potential in fusion energy.

We can't mine the moon, son, it will crash into us and then we'll all turn into:

SO ANYWAYS... Anyone think that WHEN Newt bows out, there is a chance he'll throw his support to Paul? This debate would seem to indicate so.

i wish but i don't think so.

i personally feel that if any of those guys endorse RP it's looked at as "Bad Politics"

on a side note does anyone else LOL when RP just fumbles over his words, or stops talking when someone interrupts him haha. It's kinda hard to watch and i wish he was more assertive, but there are so many times when he just does not finish is complete thought because the crowd starts cheering or the moderator cuts him off

He really is terrible at public speaking. He'll start a thought and then completely start a new sentence without finishing the last.

I watched part of the debate with my family last night. After one of RPs answers about economics, my mom: "To be honest I don't even understand what he just said."

my sister: "Is that Ron Paul? Oh my God he looks like a little old man that's about to die!"

And that's America, folks.

Debates are game shows. You might as well watch the Price Is Right.

From here:

Newt Gingrich made a stink earlier this week after NBC's Florida debate, since moderator Brian Williams asked the audience to hold their applause until the commercial breaks.

Gingrich threatened not to participate in future debates if the audiences can't react. Picking on one of his favorite targets, the media, Gingrich said NBC's rules stepped on free speech.

But then Gingrich feeds off rowdy audiences, and they helped propel him in back-to-back knockout debate performances in South Carolina last week. Some even suggest Gingrich was off his game Monday night because the crowd wasn't allowed to respond to his zingers.
Paul participating in these events is like watching a chess grandmaster teach checkers to a class of developmentally retarded 7-year-olds.

Painful.

And those are my dumbass family members.

Fixed that for you bros.
========================
Newt has turned his back on the establishment of the GOP, we don't want him; as one of the Romney interns I met last week put it, "Newt is popular because he's what stupid people think a smart guy sounds like.". That said, he's not going to endorse Romney when he loses. Chances are he'll end up back where he was when he was ousted from the House.

The GOP WILL NOT LET GINGRICH WIN, AS IT WILL BE A DECISIVE OBAMA VICTORY IF HE DID. Do I see him giving Paul his endorsement? Not likely, it's more likely that he'll endorse Santorum (if he's still around) or at best he'll just endorse Reagan Conservatism.

He's rubbed too many people the wrong way.

Another person asked if Paul's the only one to say that he'll keep his religion where it belongs... No, Romney has said the same thing but unlike Paul he didn't have the choice to use his faith as an asset.

While Ron Paul most likely won't win (and I don't think he should-personally, but that's beside the point); what he is doing is bringing his narrative to the forefront for future elections with other Libertarians, like his son. So all of you Paulites? Don't worry you'll get your shot once we get rid of the xenophobic/do nothing faction that the Tea Party turned into.

When Romney crushes Gingrich I urge all of you guys who support Paul to get behind Romney against Obama, the last thing the Republican party and America needs is a Republican Nader incident.

I'll be attending the RNC (as a delegate) in Tampa in August if any of you want to meet up.

EDIT: For the record, I've listened in on one conference call where McCain was literally scathing for how Gingrich has decided to attack Romney for being wealthy. There are lines and lines of guys he used to work with that just DON'T LIKE HIM.

It is America. The majority of ppl that watch the debates don't care about what a politician says, it's all about who they view as "Winning" the debate. That's who they're gunna vote for.

It sucks but i'd say most people, especially ppl our parents age will look at RP, hear him speak, hear a rebuttle from another candidate about how wrong RP is, and then they'll say, "Yea that guys a quack, I can't vote for him"

Then they go vote for Rom-dawg. Who btw is an INSANELY well spoken speaker. When him and Newt were going back and forth, Roms was crushing it and articulating every thought in an amazing way. If only RP was like that ... damn

Yeah, I had this little mini epiphany in one of the last debates thread. It was the moment I realized he would never be president if he doesn't start dumbing down his answers for the rest of America and start adding some witty soundbites.

WHICH btw he had one last night that was pretty good to which he could tidy up and use in the future, something like: "I want us to stop worrying about the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan and start worrying about our own border."

I think he showed last night that he can actually play politics without compromising any of his principles. He just needs some more campaign help to fine tune it.

Joke right? Romney and Obama, just like Republican and Democrat are different wings of the same bird. Sorry not many of us RP followers can vote for that.

I am predicting a Gingrich nomination, as much as I hate to say it. Republicans are purposely self destructing and Obama wins again in 2012.

I wish this fit on a bumper sticker.

You've got to be fucking kidding. First of all, Romney is no different than Obama. At least if Obama gets reelected, it's for 4 years, whereas we'd probably have to deal with Mitt for 8 years.

By the way, the Republican Party needs a Nader incident, maybe it will wake them up and bring them to a more Libertarian agenda because right now both parties are completely fucked.

Not that any of this really matters of course, because in the end it's all just the illusion of choice.

While Ron Paul most likely won't win (and I don't think he should-personally)
Orly? Why is that, may I ask?

TROLOLOLOL.... If you knew what Paul stood for you'd have no ability to say that. Our cause is against the establishment and Mitt is now even MORE the estatblishment than Obama is. May I present to you his current campaign contributors:

They look a lot like Obama's did in 2008! (Even more than Obamas' do now.)

So basically, if you vote for Romney in 2012, you literally have just voted for 8 more years of what you just got with Obama!

the last thing the Republican party and America needs is a Republican Nader incident.
Why is that? Frankly it might wake some of these fools up enough to vote libertarian next time, and the alternatives could be much worse.
