Anymore it seems like each year there is a massive school shooting somewhere in the U.S. This year will probably be no different. In fact, just as the new school year began we barely avoided seeing news channels filled with devastated parents and wounded and dead children.

Yesterday, a 20 year-old man entered an elementary/middle school in Decatur, GA with what police and media are reporting as an AK-47 and 500 rounds of ammunition.

It could have ended in a scene similar to those at Sandy Hook, Columbine, and so many others in recent memory. As the man announced his intentions and loaded his weapon, an office worker talked him down just enough to avoid the loss of any lives.

While there were shots fired and apparently a brief shootout with the police the man was ultimately taken into custody without anyone being injured.

Accused Ga. school shooter had 500 rounds of ammunition

We see bad shit all the time. Sometimes it's nice to recognize those people who come through in critical situations and help avert disasters from happening.

I'm not from Georgia, but I'm thankful that those involved in getting this man to surrender were there to help prevent the needless loss of many lives.

Why do all the sociopaths, when they lose their shit, grab a gun and head straight to school?

It is fake and will bring about a bill to have the doctors report who is on medications so the govt. can deny or remove guns in their possession.

So you're saying men with guns in a gun free zone, were able to prevent another tragic incident?

This person will be lauded as a hero, and good for them. I'm sure if you were unarmed and staring down the barrel of a loaded AK, you'd be the voice of reason too. It's either that or beg for your life like a little bitch.

At the end of the day, for all the reasoning and begging and pleading, you're still at the mercy of the gunman, and if he decides to kill you, too bad for you.

I'd much rather shoot the asshole than sit there wondering if I'm going to win that lottery.

And the liberal media take-away from this will be " Hey, we were able to negotiate with this person- no reason for armed teachers, etc!"

Right?

FUCK YOU- ARM THE TEACHERS AND SHOOT THE NEXT FUCKTARD THAT WALKS INTO A SCHOOL WITH A WEAPON, NO MOTHERFUCKING QUESTIONS ASKED.

Yeah until that first teacher that has a breakdown and gets pissed off at a sassy teen and shoots him in the head.

Great fucking idea!

On the guns in school front:

Watch the first half. Second half is good, too. But incredibly depressing.

Arm teachers? No, that's stupid. Allow responsible adults to carry fire arms, some of whom will undoubtably be teachers? Absolutely.

The difference is in the psychology impressed upon the individual. By actively arming a person, any person, you increase the likely hood that they will use the weapon, and it alters their mental state, and how they regard the weapon.

Is no one in the country able to control their emotions and exercise self restraint?!

Your teacher could just as easily stab the student in the neck with a letter opener. How often does that happen? Much like these kids who, on a lark, wanted to go out and kill someone, could have ran him over with their car, stabbed him, or simply ganged up and beat him to death in lieu of using a firearm.

The fact that 3 kids woke up one day and said, "hey, let's go kill someone for laughs" is the issue, not the method which they chose to do it.

The US doesn't have a gun crisis, it has a people crisis. The socio economical disease that plagues the country is the real problem. Getting rid of guns, however impossible, isn't going to solve that.

Until you can magically remove nearly 300 million guns from circulation, ensuring that none remain in criminals' hands, the best protection against someone with a gun, is a gun.

I actually had to look up if we have ever had a school shooting here in Australia. We did... eleven years ago. Monash University shooting - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I tend to agree with Fatbat for the most part, not going to give my view on guns in general because I know it is pointless.
