Hey braj bruhs,

I've seen lots of threads regarding online reputation management pop-up lately (business reputation management, personal reputation management, picking up girls using ORM lol). A lot of the online resources out there are basically the websites/blogs of the reputation management service providers, so of course they don't really have an interest in disclosing the specific details of what exactly they do for people. They just say that they do it, not HOW they do it.

So most online reputation management-related websites that people come across are usually filled with vague tips that don't explain the "how" and the "why" of the various SEO processes that work for ORM purposes. After helping people with this type of stuff repeatedly, I wanted to put together a free guide on how tackle these issues, all explained in an easy-to-follow manner.

I figured some of you would be interested in checking out this basic but COMPREHENSIVE guide I posted on ORM: A Basic Guide To Online Reputation Management | ReputationManagementAdvice.com

Here's another one on personal online reputation management: What To Do When Your Personal Information Becomes Publicly Available Online | ReputationManagementAdvice.com

Here's one on setting up a customer review system: Setting Up An Online Customer Review System The Right Way | ReputationManagementAdvice.com

For those of you that work with clients, between those three basic guides I posted and some of the strategies mentioned in them, you could easily offer a special "online reputation management" package and charge a SOLID amount for your ORM services. There are services springing up monthly like BrandYourself.com and Profiled.com that are targeting people who want to control their online image, but for most people going forward, personal online reputation management is a lot more than just ensuring you have a Facebook profile and a Twitter page etc. This is where the business opportunity exists in my opinion. These guys seem to be doing PRETTY well lol: Millennial Branding - Gen-Y Research & Management Consulting Firm

I figured some people here are already doing something along these lines, or maybe you're just using ORM techniques to pick up more chicks (didn't I read on here awhile back someone created an IMDB profile so girls saw it when they Googled his name lol?)...either way there's probably something there worth checking out if you're involved in SEO on the "client-side" of things.

I'd be curious to hear how people are dealing with the "major players" these days, such as Yelp, RipOffReport etc.

Party on bros...

There was an article recently in the wall street journal about dealing with these false or unwanted reviews. Every case and scenario is unique. Sometimes it involves creating new microsites and other times its as simple as 10 profiles on xing, twitter, linkedin.com, etc.. The RoR listings typically require very strong links to the underlying sites if it has been optimized and replied to quite a few times.

Thanks for the feedback Charto. I agree every case and SERP is unique for sure, wayyy much more so than looking at things from the "typical SEO" angle. For most people's ORM issues I have come across, if they complete some or most of the processes and strategies mentioned in the basic guides I linked to, and as long as they stay proactive, most problem search results outside of the more "extreme cases" can be affectively managed.

The more extreme cases seem to need some additional advanced strategies and they take a whole lot more time to deal with. Yelp in particular is an entirely different animal these days, been analyzing some different strategies etc. Their filtering system is nuts and everywhere you look business owners are screaming "extortion"...same with RoR and others...interesting times we live in yo

So you gonna hit your sister or what?

Depends on my dark passenger brah

Anyone here use Trackur or have experience with any of the other paid social media monitoring tools doing reputation management for clients? Seems like every month there is some new enterprise social media monitoring software popping up, but you have to wonder just how useful some of this software is. I'd imagine the larger the business, the more useful these types of tools would be in most cases.

its best for the large businesses because they can see what is being said about them in an organized fashion but its useful for everybody. Just hang tight as there is a brand new one that is going to blow everything else out of the water coming your way shortly.

Hey guys,

A new online reputation management guide has been published. You might be interested in checking it out if you often work with clients and business review websites like Yelp. Yelp is a HUGE force for local businesses, but it can be a blessing or a curse (as I'm sure many of you are already aware of lol).

Strategies That Can Help With Yelp
