effective polls direct the visitor to a highly relevant offer. a lot of people will go with some generic tech item like an iphone or laptop but in my experience you get a much higher conversion rate if you read deeper into the persons interests.
i'm not riding the poll wagon at the moment. i did submits heavily for a while before google got slap happy on the content network. since we are in a giving mood this is what i would test first.
targeting
we know that the visitor is interested in the tower and perhaps they would like to visit chicago. ideally, target people from outside of chicago if you are able with the ppc platform you are using.
offer
there are some good travel offers out there that will send people to the place of their choice. so in this case we are offering the following...
"Visit the tower! Vote for a chance to win two free airline tickets to Chicago."
see how we took a special interest offer and related it to the visitors interests even more?
FluxAds has two airline ticket e-mail submit offers. one for jetblue and the other for american airlines. other networks may have similar offers, i haven't checked. i noticed them a few months ago because the EPCs are high.

My site is in the top ten for "the willis tower" and has seen about a 2,000% increase in visitors today.
Too bad I never did anything with site but throw up a picture and forget about it. Oh well...

It is trademarked and the assholes there will probably give you a cease and desist or even sue to acquire the domain if you are trying to profit from their name. Not really worth it come next week when news dies off.
