FTC goes after ICANN

FTC should focus on ICANN's greed of raising TLD renewal fees every year for no reason. At the rate it's going, it'll be $1 more next year, $1.50 the next, etc. Seriously, jumped from like a 14 cent increase to 60 this year.

Must be nice to be like, "Hmm, you know, I really want a new mansion on a private island, I think it's time to open up a new TLD block and charge $2k/year for one, and while we're at it, let's raise TLD fees again, but triple them just because we can and we don't have to answer to anyone."

It's not a major deal at this point, but at the rate they're going, we'll hit $20/year .coms in a few years.

There's already people advocating for a reversal in pricing. They want to see $99/yr pricing across the board again. They seem to think it'll stop spam.
