I actually dont know if its as good some people make it out to be. Is this a potential goldmine for SEO purposes? I have a space on something like www.umd.edu/imagenesis... I'm thinking it has to be worht something in terms of SEO, I see all those Viagra ads everywhere.

i mean from THAT site to ur site, its not like the linsk are clickable and not many people are going to copy and paste something into the browser, easier to hit the back button

Usually the unusual rankings from .edu's are from code exploits. Combine that with a shitload of backlinks to the page & you have a first page ranking.

The problem is someone at the school is likely to notice the traffic and pull your account. Long term, you may be better off just selling links on the page.

Yes congratulations for pointing that out. Im not attending UMD nor is that my site. I was just using that as an example.

Get some good PR on it and I'm sure you can sucker some people into buying links on it - people claim/believe that .edu links are more valuable, but has anyone proved it?

As a strategy for get to #1 for a keyword, it's not a magic bullet. But I use an edu page and it has helped every page I've put on there move up in the rankings. The only thing I've done to seo that page was to put it through the QUIT tool to get it indexed.

Do your best to get the site internally linked. *sometimes just asking will do it

Many student pages sit in limbo. Without links from the rest of the site, it's a bitch to build PR.

I would be interested in some web space on a ".edu doman"

Anybody have access to college or university web space?

I would be willing to rent the space for some tasteful SEO experimentation. (translation= no porn or anything to create problems).

PM me please.
