Marie Walsh / Susan Lefevre is a close family friend of mine who was just on Oprah and The Today Show within the last week talking about her crazy ass story.

She was fucked over hard by the Michigan prison system 30 years ago and ended up escaping. the prosecutors manipulated her into pleading guilty by telling her she would get probation for doing so, but then slammed her with a 10-20 prison sentence. After a year in prison, she escaped and came out to California.

She was on the lam for 32 years before she was captured. Had a husband. Kids. Never told them any of them.

She was on Oprah because she wrote a book about it and I'm reading it now - it's pretty fucking crazy. Its as suspenseful as a mothafuckin Reacher novel pretty much. The amount of drama is crazy. For one, her blood uncle is the prosecutor's homeboy, among other things. I'm only 1/4 of the way through.

yea no kidding. I remember my family and I went to Rosarito, Mexico and were going to meet them there - they ended coming 2 days late. My mom was like "Dammit, Marie always lags so hard!" - it was because she was sketchin about getting back/forth through the border lulz. She is so awesome!

Damn, that's nuts. What does her husband do, if you don't mind me asking. Looked like they were living pretty well there . . . .

the media spun it that way - they pinched pennies for a really long time to get that house. Her husband works in the trash business I believe

yea Im reading it now and its actually really fuckin intense! I read Lee Child and Clive Cussler, if that illustrates my taste in books for you
 
Shit like this makes me so pissed..

At least she's on the up and up now good for her and fuck the peasants that manipulated her.
 
Good for her for getting out and finding a way to live a "normal" life, but somehow I feel like if this exact scenario was about a man instead of a woman, society would not be so supportive of him. Double standards... oh well, can't change them. Gonna go make some money. :)
