I've been reading hints of people mentioning they are getting G slapped for using their blog as an LP. Is this true?

How can G justify a slap based on the type of software you are using to serve content? It would make sense that the customer experience is made better by using WP instead of some crappy self-generated html page wouldn't it?

I think it's more along the lines of Google slapping anything that is diet related / false testimonials.

I've been using adwords to promote a blog page for 6 months+ without a single problem, so I don't think it's just due to the blog format.

I don't think they would slap based on what CMS you use, and if they did you could just strip out all of the wordpress footprints such as the "powered by" tag and the other useless links (rss feed, meta, blogroll) and tags.

Yup I know for certain that those sites are getting slapped because Google does not want them running on their network. Lots of adsense publishers complaining, etc...

What are the basis for their complaints? The fake stories? It seems asinine to complain another affiliate can get creative and outgun you.

They are complaining because their CTR is shit and they aren't making any money since they have whole ad blocks with essentially the same ad over and over again.

Which is complete BS, since Google will optimize the ads they show to get the highest eCPMs possible, since that's how Google makes their money... As for having 3 identical ads (minus the domain) in an adsense block, that's probably not good for either the site or the advertisers.

Highest eCPM on an individual or group basis though?
If google does it on a group basis(the combination of ads evaluated), you're right.
(Note: Me guesstimating at how this works from here on out)
But if google does it on an individual basis(this ad performs best on this keyword, this one performs next best), etc it's possible they don't do best together just because different keywords overlap on the content network.
So if you're advertising on "pork chops" and someone else w/ the same product is advertising on "rice", and someone else is on "black beans". You all have a .32% CTR. You each can do great on your keywords separately, but when some page has "rice" "pork chops" and "black beans" on it, and you 3 are the entire ad block, there's an issue. Effective ads means you're already seizing a large percentage of your perspective audience on that page. So 3 of the same ad could have only a slightly higher percentage(maybe .40% for all 3). Probably with 2 different types of ads, the ad block itself could've achieved over .40%, since you would already be taking up your average(.32%) the other 2 ads would only have to beat 0.04% each to have been better as a unit.

Bleh. That's enough speculation to make me sick, but I'd at least think of it as a possibility.
