I love my iphone (4s). Biggest complaint is the battery. It doesn't matter which one you chose, the battery life will still be a joke. Unless you wanna go hack around it probably wont make much difference which one you pick.

Any phone will have its own quirks. Figure out which quirks you cant live with and choose from there.

iPhone is actually pretty terrible. I don't understand how people like it because Android is just worlds above iOS. Like there really is no comparison between the two. iOS is just that bad. If you want headaches, go for iPhone because that's all you'll get.

Take a look at the HTC DNA. It's the best phone out right now imo and has the same specs as the S4 which isn't even out yet.

Like what? Which headaches specifically will you get from iOS?

You missed his point. Him and I both have Nexus devices which are a clean version of Android.

Ah, maybe I did. My bad. But it almost proves my point, I didn't realize Nexus was the "clean" version of Android because of all the LATEST GREATEST versions coming out all the time. AND, since I'm not in love with any particular phone I didn't care (and still don't) to take the time to research all the variations of Android and why one is better than another, or which one is the most pure, etc.

It's far more time than I want to put into a phone purchase, when cell phones are IMHO one of the most gawd awful fucktastic gadgets that we need to survive nowadays.

Which is why I'm borderline Apple fanboi. The stupid things work and I don't have to think about them. (damn, that's what I should have posted the first time, so much shorter)

It's funny, but as much as I hate cell phones, I feel some weird need to argue the point as to why I like Apple and not Android.

In reality, I carry both, and detest both equally. The only "mobile" device I actually like is my iPad because I can take a miniature version of my desk to the living room and watch "How It's Made" while playing Bike Baron. Then when I need to, I can check email and TeamViewer into my desktop (40 feet away) or whatever server I need to.

Any phone will have its own quirks. Figure out which quirks you cant live with and choose from there.

Better app ecosystem (more polished apps, less crashes, more choices etc), higher end device build, personal preference.

I've played around with nexus 4 prior to buying my iphone and it was just too big for my taste and iphone5's camera is superior. It's not like we're blind, people with iOS devices see its flaws and also see android's flaws. It's not like BMW is better than Audi in every regard. Mostly it's personal preference and specific needs.

The whole X is better than Y is idiotic. Try convincing someone who loves vanilla that chocolate tastes better - same thing.

Second. Writing this from a Nokia Lumia 920, which is hands down the best phone I've ever had the pleasure of using. Haven't tried much of Android prior to Jelly Bean and been had all iPhones except the 4s and 5.

Windows Phone 8 is fast, functional and looks great, but I still have to use my old iphone 4 at least once a day as there are very few useful apps or ports for Windows Phone.

I have the nokia 920 as well and I would say the same. I love how the phone works, windows 8 is great on a phone and it's really fast.

But the app store really is a deal breaker. It's not just a matter of it having a little less then other systems, there is literally nothing useful in it's app store.

What really makes it a deal breaker for me is basic apps like Google maps. Google maps is half the reason I own a smart phone. The "Nokia Maps" are complete shit and nothing is more frustrating then getting lost because your phone makes you use their knock off piece of shit map system.

The thing that pissed me off the most about the iphone 5 is the call quality was NOTICEABLY worse than the 4. I split test them side by side, the 5 was like talking into a tin can compared to the rich sound on the 4.

For me a cell phone, regardless of the cool shit, has to work as a phone. If that part sucks I'm moving on.

I am in the exact same decision-making mode right now.

iPhone > iPhone 3GS > iPhone 4.. and fuck if I'm just sick of staring at the iOS screen.

I love the feel of WP8, but they don't even have basic, essential apps like Ring Central or Dropbox :wtf

And every time I test a "flagship" Android phone like S3 or whatevs, its like I'm holding some ginormous phablet.

I keep trying to rationalize an i5 simply because the setup is sooo fucking easy.. pop it in the cradle, and 30 minutes later *everything* will be synced over. But damn if I don't want a sexy new Lumia.

Apple hasn't done anything wrong, but I just need a change of scenery.

The only thing I know is that iPhone 4 takes care of every need I have, doesn't crash, doesn't break when dropped and has a perfect size, weight and design for a mobile phone. Can't improve upon perfection.

50,000 apps isn't enough for you?

You think that until you get the phone and find out basic apps like Google maps aren't even supported.

10,000 of those 50k apps are alarm clocks, it's just spammers creating useless apps to get in on the new market. All the main apps you use and rely on are not supported.

I love windows 8 on my nokia 920, it's the best user experience by far I have had on a phone. So simple and customizable, but the lack of even the main staple apps is just a huge deal breaker.
