I just recently bought FIFA 2012 for XBOX 360, since I heard lots of positive comments on the game and I haven't really played any game for over a year, and as I logged on to the XBOX Live section, I realized that now you can play this shit for REAL money...

When did this happen? Do they have this for all EA sports games? This is seriously fucked up. Not too long ago you logged online to play for the fun of it, now they took this shit to another level.

Fuck AM bros, let's start gaming!

Nice, my gf got me FIFA 12 recently for my bday, but I was not aware you could play for money. Mind=blown. Seems like this is the future of gaming, what with diablo 3 also allowing real cash transactions between players for in-game items.

Honestly though my future kids will have no gaming system at home whatsoever. This is too much. I'd lose it if I see my kids gamble their lunch money and allowance on games. Seems no one is playing for the fun of it anymore.

Yeah, that's fucking awesome. I always thought doing something like this for first person shooters would be fucking ridiculous.

You have a bankroll of say, 100 bucks, and every time someone kills you, they get, say, $1 of your bankroll. Then you can get into bigger games that are 5-10 bucks a kill. Of course, house gets a cut.

Plus, broke-ass gaming nerds can now make a living from their gaming skillz, where they were previously employed at Blockbuster and BestBuy.

Fuck, I would be so pissed off every time I lost.

Where did you find this? Is it a site you register at?

This is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever seen. Aren't video games supposed to be fun?? I can see tournaments with a prize for the top few places (i.e. call of duty, halo, etc.) but wagers on games like this?? What happens if you experience horrible lag or just a shitty connection?

I for one think this is a step in the wrong direction. Just wait till this becomes big news and congress gets involved.

@BlokBlok well the screenshot is from virgingaming.com you have to register, then you get to see all tournaments for whatever game you're playing. There's also a way to get in from XBOX Live section in-game I think... still trying to figure this out.

I noticed they also have some bigger tournaments with $5k and $50k prizes!

What's shocking me is that EA sports is clearly pushing this. In the past tournaments like these were always underground.

There was tournament.com but I'd imagine eventually you would just get medium-high players just making smurf accounts to farm on shittier players for money and then wen they start going up again in the rankings they just make another account.

Just a warning.. my brother (who is a big freaking nerd) has been doing this for months.

There are a shit load of guys who play these games 24/7 and know every little bug/glitch in the games and use them to excess just to win.

Moral of the story: prepare to lose your money.

Why all the "gaming is supposed to be fun" outcries? No one is forcing you to play for money. If you want to play for fun, you can play for fun.
