What do they use that money for? Most just hold it in their coffers and spend it on parties to raise funds later. Like Obama's campaign, it'll come down to using Internet Marketers to spread the word. Why let them dictate how much should be invested into Internet Marketing or the strategy of doing so?

Go use your own discretion and give your services for free. After all, you're more knowledgable about it (assuming you don't sit and read about it every day) than his campaign manager.

I've been saying this for awhile: if we got a bunch of us together and just donated a little of our own knowledge and resources, we could push someone into the spotlight to win.

Sounds great to me and I'm not a republican.

Sadly, he doesn't sound at all like the kind of guy that GE, Ford, Merc, P&G, ADM, WalMart, and the other top Corporations would want in the white house.

That gives him EXACTLY 0% chance at it.

-You may think that your votes may count or some stupid shit like that, or that social media was a major factor in getting obama elected... But the truth is that corporations just want you to think these things, and their war chest to make it happen is the only determining factor for anything political that happens in this country.

Wanna get someone elected? Get them inbetween two different Corporations somehow: Let one corporation's money, or the money of a whole corporate sector fight the other and that should level the playing field a bit.

Then votes may temporarily count for something.

Fuck it, I just registered a domain to group together to try and help his campaign. Remember, even if he doesn't win this one, I'm sure we can get him known enough to have a shot at ones down the line.

Pm me if you're interested in helping him out, and I'll give you the site details.

Luke, I don't want to turn this thread into a pissing contest on who's right or wrong, but you're not looking at the root cause for what gets someone elected, "the people".

Yeah, it's easy to say that the corporations can do it because of their connections or money, but that is only a funding source to run someone's campaign on or a network to allow them to talk to someone who can fund them.

The electoral college is what decides if someone gets elected or not, and they have historically gone with the popular vote. The popular vote isn't won by corporations getting in bed with a politician. It's the money that they raise that's put into getting the word out that determines whether or not a candidate's message gets across that does.

Positive and viral messages over social media is what got Obama elected. His supporters talked him up and helped him get noticed. That led to him getting positive press and news coverage on live TV. That snowballed into getting him even more supporters.

Now, how did all those supporters rally and plan their campaigning? Social Media.

Who gets paid to manage social media, make viral videos, etc. for political candidates? We do, not some corporation's money and connections alone.

Don't write people off saying that "the man" decides who gets elected or not.

In fact, screw it about it being a PM thing. GaryJohnsonPOTUS .info .

I'd edit my last post, but it's past 10 minutes. Sign up with your wickedfire username, cause you've got to be manually approved, to stop xrumer bullshit.

I apologize for shitting on this thread with my pessimism. While I don't agree with anything you've said here at all, I would like for you all to continue to support this candidate because he sounds like someone whom we all could be proud of voting for... And there is something good to be said about voting your heart. It's therapeutic, so I'd guess.

Don't write people off saying that "the man" decides who gets elected or not.
In this case I won't speak loudly about it, but I am quite sure that corporations are the only ones to decide who gets elected. Everyone who doesn't believe so is simply uniformed or one of the sheeple.

But again, vote your heart. It's good for you. It's not like you could stop the corporations for picking their guy anyway.

I agree with you of many things but this statement is just wrong.

Sounds like a bulshit politician to thus far....

The immigration answer is a dodge and is bullshit.

The Jesus answer is more pathetic than what Obama wrote in his book.

Does this guy answer anything straight?

As for success in NM - with a population of 2 million he is qualified to be mayor of 1/2 of Los Angeles. or maybe Riverside County California.

Does he get better than this or how many other BS wishy washy answers does he have.

His website says he created 20,000 new jobs - how did he do that? Government does not create jobs unless they are hiring - the private sector creates jobs. Just the fact he has that on his site shows he is unclear on ideological issues

OOOPS. He said legalize it... No mistaking it; he went on and on about legalizing pot.

This film has fucked 'ol Gary hard. Right in the ass. We won't be hearing about him ever again after the primaries, guaranteed. (Unless it's an assasination.)

The day this was filmed was the very day that about 5 or 10 top execs all wearing $50,000 suits got together and said: "Destroy this man with maximum prejudice."

They are the CEOs of the private corporations which run our very profitable prisons and of course the accompanying security industry that supports it.

They control tens or even Hundreds of Billions of dollars that Gary just said we should take away from them.

Toast. Burnt Toast.

EDIT: So if you guys are sure you want to start a social media firestorm and get him elected; well, you're just going to get blood on your hands at best.

lukep, calm the fuck down dude.

This guy seems too good to be true. I feel like he's too close to the middle to get elected, though. You really need to pander to those extremists- left or right. Unless he can convince people to get off their asses and register to vote (and then actually vote), he's not going to attract far right or far left votes, unfortunately.

If he makes it, I'd vote for him just based off of what I've read so far.

Also, REIMktg, what do you want him to say re: Jesus stuff? Not really a smart idea to say "Jesus story was BS" or "God doesn't exist"... like it or not, he has to walk the line like all politicians do.

I did a little research now and have to say that I like him more now than my initial reaction. Not perfect, but no one is.

@MagicHat on the Jesus issue. I read, re-read, and thought about his comments. There are those that said he "smirked and winked" when he said it. If that is true and it is on camera then there is a problem. But if they ask him that he said Jesus was a historical figure - he should just say that, "He was, who can argue with that. Look, I believe in God." and leave it at that. Christians will hear him to be saying that Jesus is God. He should comment no further.

From his ouramericainitiative website and Reason interview

His immigration stance is for 2 year amnesty. He is screwed if he thinks the anti-illegal immigration crowd will take that without first securing the borders. The anti-illegal immigration crowd can swallow amnesty, but they will not be lied to again about accepting amnesty without control. Plus there is a huge issue that pisses me off beyond belief that these illegals can commit rampant Identity theft without consequence whereas if a citizen does it they go to jail.

Illegal immigration is also a rule of law issue. Not to mention as others have earlier, open borders as he advocates, will bring down standard of living and wages in the US.

From his website:
"America needs to be a land with a clean environment. We support clean-air and clean-water action and believe in conservationism. The Initiative does not support “cap and trade” policies as they are currently formulated."

WTF? "action" WTF?

His claim to fame is cutting non education Government employees from 13,000 to 12,000. He should avoid making claims that make him look like a low level manager of a corporation - I mean all he had is 13,000 employees? who hasn't made cuts like that? Puts him in the ranks of a low level Fortune 500 exec.

He states in his video with a smirk that he is (I know he has changed since) a 501C4 and cannot state he is running for president. And then he smirks and makes fun of that - Stuff like that does not play well. He is a libertarian using tax code protection and then joking about skirting the qualification?

He states as a quote:"The fewer laws the more orderly society is" ---> really?

from previous posts:

He does not think wikileaks should be prosecuted as a poster earlier said? WTF. Wiki leaks directly caused people to die. Leak your shit, but if you do so, you better understand the ramification. People straight up were killed from wikileaks actions. And wikileaks does not have a rule of law leg to stand on.

Once again from an earlier post: immigration "the root cause, which is social programs and taxation". That's bullshit.

The biggest "tidbit" I got from this thread had nothing to do with Gary Johnson himself,

But more to do with how much of an influence PapaJohn has on the youth of today....
