George Zimmerman Launches Website



I think a few people are missing the point (too lazy to quote and shit). But the reason this case is getting so much media attention is almost solely due to the fact that he was not arrested the night of the killing. Sure, the race thing is a factor as well, but had Zimmerman been arrested the night of the killing, I am 99% sure that this case would not be making headlines.

People are killed all the time, and it's common not to arrest the shooter if the police believe it was self-defense. It's also common for them to charge the person days, weeks or months later as the investigation uncovers additional evidence.

Same thing happens all the time and many times the black shooter isn't arrested. In Detroit, they have self-defense shootings all the time and the black shooter is rarely arrested but the victims are black so you never hear about it nationally.

There is another recent case of a black guy killing a retarded Hispanic a few days ago, claiming self defense and he wasn't arrested: Black Male Shoots Unarmed Hispanic, Remains Free, Media Mum - Daniel Adkins - Fox Nation.

So let's not pretend the national outrage was because Zimmerman wasn't arrested. The national outrage was because the media manipulated the facts of the case from the very beginning in order to trigger emotional responses in people purely on race based issues, and the only way to quell that outrage now is with the blood of Zimmerman.

I see what you are saying, and I agree for the most part. I should have been more clear, my mistake. I am saying that given the circumstances, it was very odd for police to not arrest him that night, which I believe is a big part of all the outrage across the country. You're right; the race factor played a role, definitely. But given the circumstances, it was odd that he was not arrested and charged that night. In cases like these (where someone is injured or killed), I'd say it's definitely more common that the suspect is charged from the get go and charges can be dropped once the entire story unfolds (if it turns out it was self defense or what not).

I haven't lived in Detroit myself, and it seems like you do, so you obviously are more familiar with that area than me. But with that said, I do have a few friends that live there, and let's be honest; the cases you are referring to are not even somewhat similar to the case of Trayvon Martin. You are talking about gang related killings; completely different. This case involves an unarmed kid walking through a neighborhood, targeted by a wanna-be cop.

With that said, I also do not agree with what the media has done in regards to this case. After all, only one person knows what happened that night; George Zimmerman. The problem here is that the media has taken away any chance of him having a fair trial. This guy might be a real jack ass and may be guilty, but he deserves a fair trial. And unfortunately, I don't think that's going to happen.

I live in suburbia now, but yeah I'm very familiar with the Detroit area. Surprisingly enough, we don't have many gangs in Detroit, just a bunch of freelance criminals for the most part. The cases I've seen on the local news lately have been where a person shoots an intruder (which most people wouldn't argue with) or even someone that was just acting in a threatening manner towards an individual (which could be the case in the Trayvon shooting).

I'm not saying there is a direct correlation, just pointing out that it is pretty common for police not to arrest someone just because a person is killed.

Also, Trayvon was busted with burglary tools and women's jewelry one time at school. Even though they couldn't prove where it came from and therefore couldn't charge him, expect Zimmerman's defense to jump all over that and say that Trayvon was looking to rob a house. Expect that to not go over well...
 
I haven't followed this story much at all. It just wasn't interesting to me and everyone was catching feelings over it. Maybe because I feel like this happens a lot. But are they saying this is a white vs black type of thing? He doesn't even look white.
