As most people already know, we stopped offering shared hosting on our .com site about a month ago. This is why. Because of the cost and organization issues that arise from hosting both shared accounts and vps accounts under the same umbrella, I needed to split them up. So I give you: zensix.ORG

This is not your average hosting offer (and I know it's not for everyone). I am using the .org site as a method of quickly getting extra funds when I need a new server, etc... It's not a new idea (and yes, I did basically rip the idea from asmallorange from a few years ago), but it is a new idea for us.

This is true lifetime hosting. You pay once and never again. The price? $149.99... but use the coupon code 60percent and get your account for just $60. Seriously. I have 10 available at that price.

Please keep in mind that this is separate from our .com site, which means you'll be using a separate ticketing/billing system. We will also be answering tickets in mass, once a day to keep costs down. Just read the entire site for all of the "catches".

PLAN DETAILS:

2GB of Disk Space
40GB of Bandwidth / month
Host 10 Domains
Softaculous Auto-Installer
DirectAdmin Control Panel
SSH Access by Request
Unlimited MySQL Databases
Unlimited Subdomains
Unlimited Parked Domains
phpMyAdmin
Easy Backups
Wordpress Hosting
Linux Based
Easy File Manager
14 Day Guarantee

Again, use the coupon code 60percent and get your account for just $60.

Order page here: ZenSix ORG - Lifetime Web Hosting - Sign Up

This is a limited time offer and I only have a few spots available right now. Please make sure you read over the entire site and know exactly what you're getting before you sign up. If you notice any problems with the site or have issues ordering, let me know. It just went live a few minutes ago.

I would want a guaranteed length - even if it's less than the total cost, like say 4 years ($60/4=$15; enough to pay for similar hosting somewhere else if you went out of business in 4 years). And I think that's what the other poster was implying too. Is something of this sort plausible?

In my (and most people's - I assume) experience, web hosts don't stick around long. Z6 seems to have a fairly stable customer base though, so maybe people will go for this anyway. This isn't an attempt at thread shitting at all - in fact, I think this is a great idea, if the details are all together - just how I see it, and how I think rogerrabbit was seeing it.

Edit: also, are you limiting how many of these accounts you're going to sell? Otherwise you might be stuck with a large number of "assets" that don't generate income - i.e., users that you're bound to host, but don't make money from...

We aren't always accepting new clients. In fact, we very rarely accept new clients. See, our main business is VPS hosting (zensix.com), and that keeps us busy. However, we found that offering lifetime shared hosting for a lump sum of money, was an excellent way to fund things like buying new servers. Instead of putting things on credit, or pulling funds from the company savings, we could generate income fast and easy. So, anytime we are looking to launch a new server or a large advertising campaign, we open up a few select slots on our ORG site.
Seems like that's the case. Great!

Yep, this first batch is a test and we'll be using the money to purchase our next server. I don't plan on taking on more than 15 lifetime clients each time we open up slots. We've already sold 7 since I posted this thread, so they will apparently go fast. I see what you are talking about wanting a "guarantee" now. I guess I missed rogerrabbit's point in his post...

I based our pricing of $149 on a 4 year model. Basically, if a lifetime client sticks around past the 4 year point, we start to lose money. So I will put a "guaranteed" time of 5 years up on the site somewhere and link back to it when I'm done.

But really, it's the once-a-day mass ticket response that makes this possible. With my .com support, we normally answer tickets in 5-15 minutes, but that comes at a pretty big price. I have to pay about $3 for every ticket that someone other than me answers. And when you get 750-1,000 tickets a month, that adds up. Which (honestly) is also the reason I stopped offering shared hosting on the .com site... After crunching the numbers for our shared hosting clients to ticket ratio over the last 12 months, we pretty much just broke even.

Anyway, I talked to a few owners of hosting companies (who are much bigger than zensix) and they ran pretty much the same model a few years ago. It really seems to be the best way to go in the beginning or when you want to raise some cash fast. It worked out really well for them... just as long as it's not overdone and you watch the numbers carefully.

Just purchased for $60. Seems like a pretty sweet investment. Thinking about moving all my hosting over to zensix...

Thanks... everyone who has signed up has now been set up.

On a side note, we've "officially" got 5 spots left, but there are a few people who never actually paid. This is fine, because sometimes people just want to grab a spot real fast and then pay a day or so later... but our billing system will automatically remove you after 48 hours if you haven't paid, so anyone who is trying to reserve a spot that way should keep that in mind.

I'm not sure I would ever signup for "lifetime" hosting, even from Z6 despite having 2 shared hosting accounts with them I've been happy with.

Your old ~$40/year plans were pretty sick.

I figure if I get a minimum of two years out of it, I'm only paying $2.5 a month. For me, in this case, reward > risk.
