lol just happened to me

long story short, this guy was a super dick in his email replies. i regged the .net of his domain and threw up a simple WP design on it. been arguing with him since via email. his website gets 4k hits a day and has a forum w a several thousand members. he posted a thread on his forum about the incident a ive had a lot of idiots from his site msging and threatening me about it.

now ive already looked into it and I could XSS his forum in a heartbeat and i could even dump his entire user db but I rather not.

I sent him an email saying I dont want to cause drama I just wanted a backlink but this is getting pretty ridiculous lulz.

wat to do? push him the .net and forget about it? develop the .net and outrank him for his keywords? dump db and destroy site? LOL @ forget about it? so let me know what you gay ass webmasters would do.
 


Develop and outrank. How did the fight start? He just didn't like the fact that you were asking for a link?
 
wait.. so you regged a .net version of his domain name, and you want him to give you a backlink?

I'd be a super dick too if I were him..

edit: I guess it depends if the domain name is just generic keyword domain, vs. a company name.

my site I wanted a backlink to gets 2k hits a day and his gets 4k hits a day and he deemed that "shitty" and went off in an entire email rant how my site is shit and doesnt have any userbase and he is 10x better, etc. (lol)

the .net was regged after he started being a dick.

I was initially trying to get a backlink on a site of mine that is in same niche (music).

I dont mean to be rude here. Oh. Who am I kidding. I think you are being a dick. Why would he give you a backlink from his site for something that is ripping his credibility off? So his site does better than you and he took it personally. Why dont you stop being a dick, be different from him on a professional level, dont be personal and treat it as just business.
 
I had a guy leave a comment on one of my sites yesterday because I spammed his site so hard with comments but my site was so white hat looking that he was concerned and thought someone was attacking my site and his.

valid point in last sentence.

however, the original site that we would have been linking each other on was not the .net version of his site, but instead just in the same genre as his site (music).

also HE is the one getting his websites userbase to harass and msg me. 3 page thread on his forum about be regging the .net of the domain and info about me, etc.

Why is the OP a dick? He asked for a link exchange between sites in the same market/genre, which is totally legit.

OP - Yes, this guy is certainly being a total cunt. It has you pissed off now, but I would just ignore it if I were sure. Sure you could develop the .net and ourank his site, but only do that if you think you could make some money. Don't do it just out of spite alone. My 2 cents...
 
My question is why did this guy who spent so much money, time and effort to create his site not protect himself by purchasing other extensions of his domain? If he had, none of this would have occurred. It is so often the case that people never think about brand protection before it’s too late.

Now regardless of why the above did not occur…
Personally, I would just let the guy have the domain (charge him the reg fee to transfer). I am quite confident you can make just as much money (if not more) with less drama on another venture :)

IMO, you're being a total prick, you think you have some sort of right to a backlink, then when you're denied, you seek revenge for something you're not entitled to. Bullying isnt clever.
