Cut out liquid calories. Cut out breads. Limit refined foods. More raw vegtables, fruits, nuts.

nerdfitness.com - I've lost about 28lbs since finding that site at the beginning of the year while packing on good muscle. Not sure how much muscle but I just deadlifted 315 which is way, way more than I ever could imagine when I started in Jan.

Went from tight 38 pants to 36 pants. Still 2x shirt but i'm good w/ that. Still have a gut but moving in the right direction.

I am working towards being able to do a pullup within 6 months.
 


A mix of slow carb and 6-18 intermittent fasting with fasted, heavy lifting 3x per week. You can get some big meals in postworkout with no slowing down the fat loss because the cals all go to replenishing your depleted glycogen stores. Also don't eat for a couple of hours before bed and drink only water, cut all or as much sugar as possible and do 0 carb 0 sugar drinks if you are craving some sweet liquids. The fat will literally melt off of your body, just do it for a week without breaking and watch what happens. Lift heavy 3x per week for faster results and a harder body when the fat comes off but you don't need to do cardio if your diet is 100% on point. I like to eat a lot too but if you do intermittent fasting and lift you can make it so that you only gain muscle from your overeat meals and stay in fat loss mode for most of the day. Don't have to starve yourself, just be a calculated fatass

I dont eat 6 hours prior to bed time. I last eat around 6pm go to gym at 8.30 and sleep around midnight.. This helps a lot with losing weight. i am already quite muscular i am trying to tone down and get a more athletic shape. So dont do this if u r trying to bulk up
 
You said your gut varies? Do you get bloating pain? Watery shits?

I used to have a variable gut. It was stupid, my pant sizes varied between 4 sizes. I was adjusting my belt all day.

Turned out I was a late bloomer for lactose intolerence. I didn't go into pain every time I drank milk so I never made the association.

Few months after quitting milk I had to get new pants/shorts since I didn't have to worry about my gut expanding anymore.

Check your posture. Some people un-knowingly push their tummy's out thinking this is relaxed when it's not. Especially stomach breathers. When your posture is broken, your belly naturally tends to strain outwards. And vice versa. If you un-knowingly push your belly outwards then it can break the entire chain of posture. People can do this for years and it feels totally natural to them.

To check this. Push all of the air out of your lungs and relax your stomach (really push all the air out of your lungs). When you have all of the air out, relax your navel towards your back, let your belly naturally relax back don't force it. At this point you might notice the sensation (for the first time) that you were straining to keep your belly pushed out. Just relax it and let it pull in. Then when you breath in, make sure to breath into your diaphragm instead of into your belly.

Studied Alexander Technique for a few years, have seen people with pot belly's lose them just by addressing their posture and their breathing. Careful not to force/strain anything though, it should feel natural and relaxed.
 
Another experiment you can do is to purposefully strain/push out your gut, and then allow it to relax back in while very slightly helping it along, kind of pulling your navel towards your back. Experiment with this a bit and you might eventually realize that the "pulled in" belly posture is actually more relaxed than the pushed out (which used to feel relaxed).

This is different from "sucking in your gut", it is relaxed not strained and should give you an "ah ha" moment.

If not, maybe you just need to work that gut off after all :P Good luck man.
