Getting Tidy to work with PHP on Mac

I have been trying for last couple days now to get this working followed various tutorials and still no luck has anyone else been able to get this working. I'm running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3. I about ready to pull my damm hair out. On my pc all thats involved is uncommenting a line. But on the Mac it's a fucking quest to get such a little thing done.
