getting traffic in a space that google and many other sites hate (gambling).

somehow spreading word of mouth on forums like 2p2 without being obviously spammy.

probably should be #1 technique for generating traffic to any poker product (if its actually any good)

what does your software do?

This. If your product doesn't suck it will spread via word of mouth on the 2p2.

Youtube videos are meant to work quite well in that niche.

what kind of videos would i upload? we have made a nice video that goes into more details about our product...but i imagine the traffic is in constantly creating video content...so how do we do that without getting off topic? we aren't a poker news company (news would be a source of new content) and turning into a poker media company of some sort would seem like straying off the path.

A couple of years ago I re-uploaded some popular and entertaining TV poker clips to test out the potential traffic with my URL in the description and in a video caption, one of them currently has 1.2m views and several others with 100k+. I don't have stats access anymore but it was sending v.low xx semi-targeted visitors a day so it can work to some extent.

If you make your own vids, the craze right now is obv. coaching so maybe offer up some lessons, tips, etc that'd interest your target and finish up with a plug for your product if it's related.

Anyway, as others have said.. if 2+2 catch on then it'll spread just fine.

Upload some big games, some more videos of the product, maybe some videos of you using the product and winning big? Competitions?

isn't this going to piss a lot of people off, or just the video uploaders? stealing content sounds like a dangerous way to build a brand.

what's to prevent us from re-uploading every poker related video on YouTube (that's not obviously from a poker brand/media company) and attaching our URL on the video itself, and the video page?
