It's that "poor people are more likely to commit crimes", and a higher percentage of blacks and latinos are poor. But a poor white person is far more likely to commit a crime than a not poor black person.

As a half Black person I can say this isn't true. I've discussed this before on here but the reason for the high crime rate is Prohibition on Drugs. Prohibition doesn't work and only serves to drive the crime rate up and that was proven during the 20s and 30s when the crime rate went up when prohibition on alcohol went into effect. Blacks were even poorer 70 years ago than they are now but the crime rate was never this bad. Once the drugs came into the communities during the 1960s that's when the crime rate soared. Crack wasn't in Black neighborhoods pre-1960s.

That's exactly why there's so much gun violence in my old (and where I live now same neighborhood) neighborhood. Crack...
If crack were legal there wouldn't be any deaths other than junkies overdosing.

There you go. A lot of people on this board and in the real world get off on saying "Blacks commit more crimes", but looking at the root cause will show what Blacks are going through now is the same thing that their great grandparents were going through during Prohibition. Only thing is that crack is 1000 times worse. The war on drugs is not winnable, the government needs to stop wasting our tax dollars on it because the flow of drugs from South America isn't going to stop. Just legalize it, let the crackheads overdose, give help/rehabilitation to those that want it and the crime rate in Black neighborhoods will drop like a bag of rocks.

Also, most mentally ill people are non-violent. Even someone with something as serious as schizophrenia are usually non violent because they are too preoccupied with the voices in their head than what is happening around them.

However, what I find difficult when comparing Switzerland with the US is that switzerland is a lot more wealthy. Swiss Statistics - Wage level - international comparison

My experience with the mentally ill has been different. Yes, I understand my experience with them isn't the rule, but they can be violent. I had one guy tell me he was going to rape me (I'm not joking). I've had others say other odd things as well, but in retrospect they never actually followed through with the threats. It might have been because they physically couldn't have given the situation though. If they would have tried they would have had a needle full of thorazine shoved in them and thrown in a padded room or strapped to a bed.
