Godaddy Shot Elephant, namecheap Profits

...but if you're going to do it you should at least have the balls to call it what it is and not try to justify it by any other means (culling, food etc.).

I'm not trying to justify it. I'm just saying that there's a proper way to hunt. If you're going to kill something, you should eat what you kill (except for humans, because they could have AIDS :p ). Anything less is a waste and disgraceful.

I love meat, enough said.

Villagers wearing GoDaddy.com hats while tearing the elephant up?

Seriously? Great PR department.

Yeah, PETA's going to be using their government funding to thrash GoDaddy. Elephants, Dogs, and Cats are the three top animals that people feel are sacred (at least in most cultures) and have a personal investment with whenever they see them. It's going to be bad for GoDaddy.

Who says what is a proper way to hunt or not?

I love meat too :) When I fish I eat it, but that's because I am Jewish and a free meal is a free meal :)

Who says what is a proper way to hunt or not?

Anyone who's grown up around a hunter knows that you don't just kill an animal to kill it. If you're going to take its life, then you need to eat its meat.

The only people I've ever seen kill something and leave the meat to rot on the ground are people who are from urban areas that are hunting for the first few times before they get chewed out by someone who's hunted a lot longer.

But if you a sports hunter you ARE killing the animal just to kill it whether you eat it after or not that's not why you hunt.

GoDaddy consistently has cheaper prices on transfers, registrations and renewals than NameCheap.

Assuming we all have executive accounts, then maybe.

This test domain blahghghghghhghg.com prices:

GoDaddy: $11.97
Namecheap: $9.98 + Free SSL Cert + Free WhoIs Guard

Thats just for a 1 domain purchase, Godaddy has some nice deals if you bulk purchase other extensions for the same domain, but i certainly don't see GoDaddy being that much cheaper, if at all, certainly not on my end anyway.

Bob Parson's is a douchebag who reminds me of Larry Flynt. This is one more reason why I will never use godaddy.

If you read the Time article, there are other much more effective ways to ward off the elephants from eating crops, ways that work long term rather than shooting an animal whose numbers are dwindling and is classified as "vulnerable."

Actually there are 600,000 African elephants and their numbers are growing at a steady 6% every year. They are listed as threatened but really aren't unless we return to the same levels of poaching seen in the 80s that saw their numbers halved. Once on an endangered or threatened list it takes a lot to get off.

I agree, sticker price is more at GoDaddy, but .com reigstrations or renewals are always less than $8 with one of either two coupons that have been running for years and there usually several other coupons running at any given time. You don't have to have an executive account to save money, you just need to be in the know. The free ssl cert and whois for a year certainly do sweeten the deal at Namecheap though.

What difference does it make if you eat the animal or not? You didn't kill it because you were hungry, you killed it for fun (or sport or whatever you want to call it). Eat it, leave it or fuck it's dead carcass, it doesn't make a blind bit of difference to anyone or anything, certainly not the animal as it is dead.

It makes a difference to the PETA rep who I heard on the radio months back. They are against it of course, but they consider hunting the least unethical way to eat meat because he said animals in the wild tend live better lives than those in the meat industry.

I am glad bob did his part to save the crops, and shot the elephant.

I am moving all my domains from namecheap, because they are morons obviously, to godaddy.

tbh, not sure why everyone's getting their panties in a bunch over an elephant.
This whole issue reminds me of the Whale Whores south park episode.

If you're going to leave godaddy, do it for one of the many available rational reasons: such as not wanting godaddy to swoop in and take your domain away at whim, or the shitty/slow control panel, or long ass DNS changes, etc.

Well I saw my shot to trash GoDaddy so I'm taking it! GoDaddy BLOWS I have their unlimited hosting, dedicated server and a bazillion domains and I am unaware of any service they provide that I'm happy with.

My sites are constantly down, the service sucks, servers suck, pricing sucks. I spend at least 3 hours a week talking to people who don't give two shits about why my sites are down. I'd move everything but it would take me a month to get it all done so I'm basically married to a dirty old money grubbing hag who don't put out!

Then to top if off they kill a perfectly good elephant!

Thanks for that info, I had a feeling the media was feeding me a skewed statistic to make their argument seem stronger, and you confirmed it.

If the animal truly isn't being threatened, i don't have much of a problem with him killing it. But what certainly was bullshit was the way he made it seem like trhe sole reason he did it was to save the village. My ass. He did it for the sport of it plain and simple. He's hoping that bringing home an elephant tusk would finally allow him to tap Danica's ass.

Thanks for the heads up...trying to move 10 out right now but namecheap is being slow as shit heh...anyway whether you give a shit or not about the elephant or whether you support or don't support what he did, in the end it's a bad business decision to put that kind of video out there, simple as that. You're alienating people that are your clients and it's just a pretty brainless move.

The fact that he killed the elephant doesn't really bother me its his arrogant attitude towards the whole thing. Hes obviously a very cocky guy if he think hes can post this kind of stuff and then act like everything is peachy and this doesn't look bad on his company then hes off his rocker.

The smart thing to do would be to issue some sort of apology even if it was a bullshit one. Hes just coming off as a spoiled little shit head. I know hes use to this kind of press (well maybe not this bad), but I definitely think he went about this all wrong. I'll give it like 1-2 weeks before he does a 180 to try and save his ass.
