This cartoon was made by a survivor. Totally worth the watch, and heartbreaking. This type of stuff makes me rage so hard at the government.

You say nothing of value, man. Sad but true. Good luck building websites and advertising campaigns.

I'm 100% sure you said something not worth reading.

You are a fine gentleman of an upstanding character with a mature, eclectic taste in historical documentations.

For what its worth this single act of the US also ended the Japanese occupation of many south east asian nation which probably killed a lot more people than this bomb. This is why you don't see Asian nation ever condemned this act even though this is one of the easy point of attack if they ever want to highlight the US genocidal tendency.

I am not sure getting your history from cartoons is the best move. I feel very bad when someone gets hurt. I truly am a compassionate person. Take 3 minutes and read over the Japanese war crimes section of Wikipedia. Its a great source of information for basic people.

Here is a snippet to help. "the Japanese military murdered from nearly 3,000,000 to over 10,000,000 people, most likely 6,000,000 Chinese, Indonesians, Koreans, Filipinos and Indochinese, among others, including Western prisoners of war."

And yeah its all very sad.

I love how people try to pawn this action off as "saving lives and ending war." Give me a fucking break. People still get sick to this day from this stupidity. And then the US runs around telling everyone else they can't have nukes or nuclear power, when they are the only idiots who have ever used it in this fashion.... TWICE.

I'm half white, half Japanese, American, with a Nuclear Engineering degree who has worked in nuclear power plants and turned down jobs at Oak Ridge. I think that makes me qualified to say fuck anyone who used nuclear technologies for offensive purposes.

Yes, the Japanese were doing some horrible and unethical stuff too. That makes it okay. Tit for tat? We all compromise our morals every time we see someone else do something wrong.

The basic question is: why do innocent people have to suffer for the crimes of others in every war? Fuck militarism.

Hiroshima was not exactly a paradise when they dropped the bomb; in the weeks leading up to the big one, they were bombing the hell out of it, killing more military and civilians than the atomic bomb did. By dropping the atomic bomb, it obscures the fact that killing 100,000s of civilians all across Japan was a regular practice.

The guy who put this strategy into action finally admitted it before he died :

Excerpt:

There was a terrible smell in the air. Thinking the bomb that hit us might have been a yellow phosphorus incendiary like those that had fallen on so many other cities, I rubbed my nose and mouth hard with a tenugui (a kind of towel) I had at my waist. To my horror, I found that the skin of my face had come off in the towel. Oh! The skin on my hands, on my arms, came off too. From elbow to fingertips, all the skin on my right arm had come loose and was hanging grotesquely. The skin of my left hand fell off too, the five fingers, like a glove.

Fact: states murder. They always will. Given the psychopaths in charge; the power and authority they assume for themselves; the legitimacy bestowed upon them by an unthinking, unsuspecting, and misled populace; and the vested interests at stake, it is inevitable.

You can dress it up and try to make it palatable, but it still comes wrapped in blood and misery.

Welcome to democracy.

Well, fuck you too, it wasn't tit for tat, if those fucking japs weren't bombed to oblivion they would still be raping and pillaging and killing millions of people which apparently ok with you since you are half Japanese.

So the nazis were bad for putting people in camps and gasing them out; but the united states can drop bombs on civilian cities (Dresden, or the cities in Japan) and that's ok?

Correction; welcome to human nature.

Fuck your populist argument. The japanese didn't want to know what their leaders were doing because it was in their interest. Just like the germans. Just like the americans. And generally they default to supporting their leaders; like most Americans who think muslims are sub-human since they are the current target of their elite's ambition. The information is always out there; but most people choose to remain igorant. You can't plead ignorance if you CHOOSE to remain ignorant (as oposed to being truly ignorant)

Populist arguments are attractive since the elite's are the ones who call the shots. But it is the people that support the elites that give them power. And it is the people who turn a blind eye to attrocities because it is in their interest.

People, no matter social status, ethnicity, political inclination, religion or in what time they lived; they all seek to obtain what is best for them. People are, with very few expections, extremely short sighted, un-empathetic and completely self focused. Those who aren't are generally either crushed, or used as useful idiots. That is the reality of the world.

No political order, religious perspective or other theory is going to change this. Because as long as we are mortal and we live in an environment that for the most part is out of our control, we will have trying times; and when it comes down to it (by that I mean; there is food for x people yet there are 2x trying to get it); every decent person will do whatever it takes to make sure their liniage survives. Deep down, we are all animals; we just live in good times so we get the luxury of hidding it and condeming those who act in our oppresed true nature.

I wish I could say I was better. I know I can be now that times are good. But if it came down to it; and there was food for either my family or yours; I know exactly where I'd stand.
