Goddammit, this broke me up, 9min Japanese cartoon depicting the bombing of Hiroshima

So the nazis were bad for putting people in camps and gasing them out; but the united states can drop bombs on civilian cities (Dresden, or the cities in Japan) and that's ok?

Were these people that being gassed and put in camps actively killing or raping millions at that time? If they did and that was the only thing that'd make them stop then I'd say yeah, gas away...

Well, fuck you too, it wasn't tit for tat, if those fucking japs weren't bombed to oblivion they would still be raping and pillaging and killing millions of people which apparently ok with you since you are half Japanese.

Why do we still, after this many years of dealing with the internet, still deal with people who selectively read portions, ignore other portions, and respond in ways to look correct, rather than deal with the actual discussion. It's like trying to teach philosophical debate and fallacies to sixth graders.

I'm just glad you guys aren't in leadership positions. War is necessary in this life, it can't be avoided despite a collective effort. War is horrendous, the innocent will always suffer and that will always be the price afforded by the victors.

If it becomes your tribe versus my tribe, your family versus mine, country against country, then I will kill all of your's to ensure the survival of mine. If you can't get behind that concept, you are failing to realize that there is someone out there who poses a threat to your survival, and should you ever come across him or her, you will be ill prepared, morally, to defend your life's work.

Not minimizing Hiroshima at all - but I find it fascinating how the Japanese people have been able to bounce back when compared to cities in the United States.

Who's the aggressor in the wars you fight?

What enemy do you feel poses the greatest threat to you and your family?

Destroying the part of another country during war and slaughtering the people of a particular race for hate ain't same.

Killing during war and genocide ain't same

Once again the forum idiot strikes again:

1. Take a picture portraying city A in the best possible fashion
2. Take a picture portraying city B's slums and worst environments

Clearly A > B...right?

Chicago's GDP/capita: $45.6

Hiroshima's GDP/capita: $23.6
http://www.demographia.com/db-gdp-metro.pdf
Fucking retard, Chicago has the 4th largest GDP in the world, right behind Tokyo. And nevermind the fact that corporate welfare accounts for a significant amount more than social welfare ever will. But I guess you're too much of an imbecile to ever comprehend any of these concepts.

You do realize that Chicago is not Detroit, right?

Hop off my dick, I'm a fucking idiot. Plus the basic theory still stands - detroits GDP is $200 billion with a GDP/capita of $44.0 k

Couple of important points. That data is from 2002, long before the auto industry collapsed and the housing market imploded. Also, Detroit (the city) is poor as fuck, but the GDP numbers in that report you posted are for the Detroit Metropolitan area which includes all of the wealthy suburbs.

Dwights point was that a city like Detroit has been completely run by liberal Democrats for over 40 years and the city has turned to shit during that time, whereas Hiroshima has made quite a recovery from having an atomic bomb dropped on the city. Now all of our wealthy suburbs on the other hand which are keeping the GDP numbers inflated, have not been run by the same people. Coincidence?

1. The data is not from 2002, the data is from 2010:

List of cities by GDP - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Detroit - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The given 2010 GDP estimate is $200.6 billion with a population of 5.2 Million still gives roughly $38.5 k GDP/capita, which is significantly higher than Hiroshima's.

2. There are slums all over the place. If you're going to talk about "Detroit" not "Detroit slums" then you MUST include the wealth sections as well as the poor ones, and guess what - it's still one of the best cities in the world. If you think otherwise you need to travel more. And I'm not including the suburbs, which by the way would not make a significant difference at all because the vast majority of the wealth is concentrated in the city.

3. Blah blah, more liberal bashing bullshit not based on any factual evidence - anecdotal or otherwise. I recommend getting your news from more sources than Fox.

4. MY point was that Dwight was once again using deceptive and manipulative pictures to give a completely inaccurate picture of reality, not an uncommon occurrence from that fool.

The cartoon illustrates the suffering of human beings, being hurt by other human beings. Come on, leave your political/religious/economics prejudices aside

In case the big Old English D in my avatar wasn't clue enough, I was born and raised in Detroit and still live in Metro Detroit, albeit out in the suburbs now. I know this area quite well, and I can assure you the wealth of this area is NOT concentrated in the city - I don't know where the fuck you pulled that from but trust me it's not. Detroit is not like other big cities, so your comparisons are going to be moot.

The wealth of the Detroit area is concentrated primarily in Grosse Pointe and to the north in Oakland County (Bloomfield Hills, Birmingham, Rochester Hills, etc). The city of Detroit is decimated, so when you pull numbers for the area you have to keep that in mind.

Didn't you at least watch 8 Mile? That dividing line is very fucking real. Here is a demographic map of Detroit. The red dots are white people and the blue dots are black people. See if you can find Detroit (extra points if you can spot 8 Mile on the map):

Now guess where the wealth is NOT concentrated...

edit: in case you're wondering what that clump of honkeys is doing in the middle of Detroit, that is the city of Hamtramck and those are mostly poor immigrants (eastern European, Yemeni, Bangladeshi etc).

Rest assured segregation was alive and well during WWII here in America. Also, the country was filled with hate after the bombing of pearl. This was why Japan was bombed. These were not factories, tranes or occupied positions they were bombing, but rather a city. Justify it all you want, but there was no difference and it was pure hate. Same story with th city of Dresden, the Wehrmacht had little presence in this city.... All hate, no difference - its just the media that tells u one group of people is bad because the medias controlled by Jews.

Forgive spelling on iPad.

And who's been running Japan?

500px-Liberal_Democratic_Party.svg.png

That's the logo for Japan's "Liberal Democratic Party", which was in charge for over 50 years. The other major party is the "Democratic Party", which is actually more liberal. In 3rd place is the "Japanese Communist Party", which has 7% of the vote in their congress.

"Indeed, the principal legislation governing public assistance remains the Daily Life Security Law, which was first enacted in 1946 and revised in 1950. The law was, and is, designed to enable households to maintain a minimum standard of living, as defined by administrative formulas. Aid is provided primarily in the form of monthly living allowances, housing allowances, medical assistance, scholarships to children, and three other categories.

Equally noteworthy, aid to the poor is politically uncontroversial in Japan today and arouses little public resentment. Japan is, in this respect as in several others, a mirror image of the United States."

We've already established that you can't compare political parties in other countries with other cultures. What works for the people of Iceland, may not work for the people of Kenya, and what works for the people of Japan may not work for the people of Detroit. You already knew all that, but you just like to be a contrarian.

The fun part comes when you try and explain what happened to Detroit (hint: the city turned to shit decades before the collapse of the auto industry).

Segregated housing?

Either way, if the kind of outmigration and level of decay was happening to Los Angeles, Phoenix, or Dallas - the government would be all of this shit.

Industrial leader to urban wasteland. Ouch.

Then there's not much point to the graphic is there? Do you really think the person who made it was trying to promote the idea that Japan's "liberal" government helped rebuild it?

You already knew all that, but you just like to be a contrarian.

I didn't create or post the image, I gave no opinion, and relayed related facts. If pointing out "shades of grey" is contrarian, then so be it, lol.
