Congrats on your new journey into parenthood.
Here's a little something I remember from Jeff Foxworthy.
"When you have your first child you WORRY about everything. You clean the dog hair & carpet fibers off their hands. You don't let them play with things that could be dangerous.
Then the second child comes along and things seem to change. Here's an example. My wife comes in to tell me that Johnny is playing with a lighter and I respond by saying, "Yes, but he's being QUIET!!"
The first 13 years with my two daughters were the most FUN. Then they got their own social life and my time with them became less and less.
But now I have grandchildren, so I get to enjoy those early years all over again.
Quite the awesome circle in my book.
The BEST piece of advice "I" can give you for while your child is a baby.........DO NOT try to BE QUIET while he/she is sleeping!!!!! That is a BIG no no!! Do what you normally do and let visitors talk, laugh, watch TV, listen to music or whatever they would normally do.
If you start making it QUIET while the the baby is sleeping you condition it to NEED quiet to sleep. Let it learn to sleep with normal everyday sounds and interactions going on around it, then BOTH you and the baby will be MUCH better/happier for it.
Oh....and talk NORMAL to the baby. Use REAL words in loving tones and not Gibberish like you see on TV and in the movies.
Peace out!!
