I'm going to Oktoberfest this year and was wondering if you guys have some tips for me. I still don't have accomodation and I haven't decided on the exact date. I think I want to avoid weekends as I've heard the most of the people visit on weekends.

Any tips on hotel (we are 3 guys), transportation, schedule, places to visit (except beer tents :D)?

It would be a miracle to find any type of accommodation in Munich before the fest especially this late.

Try ringing the campsites in and around Munich, like the Thalkirchen Campsite.

Or if you still have time there's a load of pensions (guesthouses B&B's) in Universität München.

Weekends, weekdays, its no odds, it still mind numbingly packed.

Theres always the last option of gettings a job in a Beer-tent and all the beer and accomodation is free.

I'm also going....i have a friend who lives in Munich. I'm trying to learn this friggin language. So far I can say "I have the hiccups" in German...so i think i'm off to a good start.

LMAO!!!! Well, you can call someone a dumb cow shit ~ Duma ku sheist. (Forgive me on the spelling, but that should at least show you how to pronounce it.

Don't waste your time. I was over there in the late 70s and almost everyone we met knew at least some English, even the older people. I don't see it being a problem for you.

If you insist, there are torrent sites with rosetta stone I'm sure.
