Going Vegan

Ugh, great, now we're getting into attacking GMOs. The amount of hippie in this thread is insane.

Why do people equate veganism with soy? It's retarded...it's nothing but a transition food for most. Go ask any long time vegan how much soy they eat. Here, have a watch of this vid. See how silly you look thinking all vegans eat is soy or that being vegan is in some way limiting?

Some of you think that all vegans eat is soy and carrots because that's all you see at your shitty chain supermarkets. There's one aisle for potatoes, apples, oranges, bananas (all of these fruits severely under ripe), carrots and soy. Then there's 80 aisles with a bunch of processed shit and your tasteless meat which you have to cover up the taste of with plants anyway (that one makes a lot of sense lol)

I've discovered more fruits in the past few months of being raw than I thought could have ever possibly existed.

I'm like 95% raw which should be severely limiting right? Well in the past week or so I've had, papayas, cavendish bananas, manzano bananas, mangoes (3 or 4 different varities), watermelons, strawberries, sapodillas, pomegranates, lychees, rambutans, jackfruit, baby jackfruit, grapes, tomatoes, kumatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, celery, asparagus, zucchini, cauliflower, red peppers, dates, dragon fruits, kiwis, sugar apples, clementines, grapefruits, plums, cantaloupes, passion fruit, sweet potato, brown rice, sugar snap peas and umm, I think that's about all I can remember off the top of my head. And yes that's JUST this past week. When I think back to how I used to eat THAT was very limiting. All it was was the same old shit spiced differently, what the fuck?

What did you have this past week? A few dead chickens and cows spiced up in a few different ways using plants to cover up their taste and a bit of mashed potato or a bun? Maybe some faggy rainbow cereal in the morning with secretions from another species? lol have fun bros

You need to go to a real farmer's market or Asian market and maybe you'll see how much variety there is out there of fruits and vegetables instead of going to shitty chain supermarkets that have the lowest quality fruit, least variety and highest prices that guide you straight towards the other aisles because you know any of those fruits will taste like shit. Most of you probably don't even know what a fucking ripe banana looks like. You know why? You'll rarely see one at the store because they throw them out before they go ripe because most people will have thought it has gone bad.

There is a WHOLE world of fruits and veggies you haven't even heard or seen of yet, go discover them. Stop being so closed minded. Being vegan is about abundance not restriction. Don't believe me then fucking try it. I promise you you'll feel 100x better. I was a non vegan for most of my life so I've tried your diet. Don't come at vegans with your nonsense when you haven't stepped in our shoes.

When I made the dog eating thread a bunch of you had your panties in a bunch yet there is absolutely no difference between a cow, a pig and a dog. You've been so disconnected from the source of your food that you think there is. Go up to a cow and tell me you get the urge to tear it apart rather than pet it and smile in awe at the wonderful creature that it is. Go up to a ripe juicy fruit and tell me if you get the urge to eat it.

Don't you see the disconnect that has been engineered by the food industry?? Come on, most of you are smart cookies on here, open your eyes it's not that difficult to see what's going on. I know, it's easier to try and justify that what you are currently doing is right though.

This just further reinforces my point about abundance. Most people fail because they are simply not eating enough. Yes it's that simple. You're going to fucking starve if you think you can make it on salads all day. Vegetables have fuck all calories. This is exactly why so many of those who fail suddenly begin to feel better when they go back to meat - they stop starving.

Also, from your article:

While Jolie stakes her claim that red meat is her "beauty secret", many other celebrities claim that being vegan has changed their life. "Glee" actress Lea Michelle says the diet makes her "feel good and bright".

Kellie Pickler believes going vegan helped her to manage her weight and stay thin. Singer Leona Lewis is hoping to influence others, like Simon Cowell, to give up eating meat. Other celebrities jumping the bandwagon to change pubic thought on vegetarianism include stars like Alicia Silverstone, Pam Anderson and Kate Moss who all proudly claim vegan is the way to go.

You have to eat waaay more! If you don't get this concept not sure how else to explain it. I think American understands all about eating a lot though: Percentage of Overweight, Obese Americans Swells

Let's say on a scale from one to ten, 1 being the unhealthiest/worst feeling and 10 being the healthiest/best feeling.

Yes, if you stop eating processed foods you may go from a 1 to a 5, but if you take it a step further and go vegan you can go from a 5 to a 7, and then if you go from vegan to a raw vegan then you can go from that 7 to a 9.

Fair enough but many people can go from a 1 to a 9 eating meat no problem. I'm vegan and I fully recognize this.

Good luck with your new diet OP. Read m0rtal's thread if you haven't, there's some good advice in there.

Remember that no single diet is right for everyone and even personal dietary needs change with other lifestyle changes, age, physical objectives, etc. So basically don't listen to anyone but yourself. If your health responds well to going vegan then keep it up until your body tells you otherwise. If you want animal protein I recommend egg albumin, arguably the best protein available for the human diet other than eating people.:food-smiley-002:

More than anything else just eat shit tons of vegetables, beans, lentils, fruits, and don't eat processed food.

edit ps m0rtal's post above wins so don't bother arguing with it

TLDR

Has anyone ever gone bush (eat what you kill, find) ? I grow my own vegetables and I can vouch for their awesomeness. I don't have the resources to grow/hunt my own meat but am curious as to how it is.

on my island (northern canada) my family and i chase wild chickens around and catch them with our bare hands and eat them whenever we can catch them. we could shoot them but its a lot more fun to chase them around. i prefer it to chicken you get in the store, but i dunno if everyone would feel the same way.. hard to say.. you'd have to try it out yourself

When someone points to the "China Study" you know its time to walk away.

Good luck trying something new.

Is there a difference in taste between hens and roosters? I've always wondered that. Sometimes it even keeps me awake at night.

I am completely fine with dying 10 years earlier and getting to enjoy hundreds of juicy and tender filets.

No vegetable or fruit has ever (or will ever) involuntarily make me close my eyes out of a near-orgasm from giving my taste buds a blowjob.

MOTHERFUCKER.

ive toyed with going vegetarian - never vegan. But I mean honestly bros, I just eat meat in moderation.

You know, I'm actually inclined to eat less meat, but those fucking handwringing junk science documentaries make me want to kill a cow with my bare hands out of sheer frustrations.

She bangs on about HCAs. Yes, it's long been known HCAs are bad for you.

But in eggs? Where the fuck is the evidence for HCA from eggs? Also, what about liver?

There's an argument for eating more offal. We routinely throw the most nutritious parts of the animal in the bin. That's fucked up.

I don't think I'd ever give up meat completely but I'd certainly like to eat less of it. I was watching an episode of River Cottage River Cottage - Home and Hugh went three months without meat and prepared some amazing food. He did a spot on raw diet with some interesting dishes that was really great too, like a chocolate mousse made out of avocado that I would like to try. River Cottage - River Cottage Community Recipes

However, I just watched a Jamie Oliver episode where he was visiting France and in a region where everything is very rustic, where they grow all their own produce, yet hunt wild boar, raise geese and ducks, and eat tons of saturated fats, they live the longest in all of France. Humans have been hunting and eating animals since the earliest recorded history when we lived in caves, and have been raising animals for food for thousands of years, yet it's only in the last 30 years or so that eating meat has been equated with an unhealthy lifestyle by some groups. Let's be clear about one thing; it aint the meat that's making people unhealthy.

The part that bugs me about this thread is the preaching. You can tell the OP was basically badgered into this by mortal and organization like PeTA make me ill with their hypocrisy.
