Hi,

I'm just wondering what people would consider a decent CTR% on a google adwords ad. Obviously this will depend on many factors, but generally speaking what's a good %?

Thanks in advance.

Depends on niche. For search I figure 1%CTR or better and the campaign will likely survive. Below 1% your campaign may fail. Search is generally easier to succeed with than content network.

On search, I've gotten upto as high as 40% consistant. But the keywords I was targeting were exact match and there isn't a lot of competition.

But honestly, it's mostly common sense. I'm 2 fucked up right now to go into detail, but a good start is to organize your ad groups and create hella specific ads. If there's enough volume to justify it, create an ad for every keyword in either phrase or exact match. Just always be hungry for more CTR.

I'm new to wicked fire but I've been working with adwords for about 3-4 years now. CTR can vary depending on the niche. In most cases, CTR is not what you're looking for (unless you're trying to build awareness of your site/brand/product..etc) Your main concern should be the conversion rate. Theres alot to consider when trying to improve your percentage like LPs. But the one thing I noticed that does enhance performance in terms of conversions, is to be specific in your ad. Let your incoming traffic know what you're offering on the other side of the page. Dont just put up ""advertising and selling text," be honest and watch your conversion rate bump up. Remember, theres a lot of competition in almost every industry. See how their ads are presented and try to offer something different. This does require a lot of time and work...but to be successful with adwords you have to put in the time and effort!

Hope this helps!
