You're right. I'm sure Google did this for the betterment of humanity as a whole.

No it's for sure a bottom line thing, much like the quality of ads in adwords:

Answers to common Google Chrome objections
Q: Google has some selfish motivation for doing this, right? I’m sure that there’s some angle here--there’s gotta be?
A: Here’s my personal take. If people like and use the web more, that’s eventually good for Google because they will do more searches. Therefore it’s in Google’s interests to make the web better, more accessible and more useful. And Google Chrome does that by making the web faster, safer, and more stable.

Chrome == more searches, and hence more ad revenue for Google.

The "beta" is very misleading. This is pretty much a finished product. People need to learn their lesson about google labeling all their products as "betas". Either way...this thing is faster than anything else out there.

safari 4 will be a lot faster when released...im pretty sure apple has the best web browsers...but the firefox addons are the reason firefox is so much better.

Clearly not, how did I imply that they made Chrome for no personal gain? They have obviously made it to promote Google even more, it is one more market they are now tapping and at the same time getting a leg over on Microsoft. They want Google to BE the Internet for the average user, it is the ultimate branding. Now with a browser some users will certainly feel that Google is what is giving them access to the Internet and all the information on it.

I can't quite understand how people think this wouldn't be beneficial to Google unless it was stealing our browsing behaviour to enhance it's search engine. It may well be doing that, but the fact that it is an open source project and the fact that doing that and being found out would tarnish their user friendly reputation and damage their brand - leads me to believe otherwise.

Do you think that Internet Explorer sends your data to Microsoft?

The craziness won't be in the code, it hides in the EULA.

Emphasis mine.

Now what the fuck does "through" mean here? Is that saying that if I use Chrome, any content I post anywhere is theirs to use? Were I to use Chrome to post on WickedFire, would they own that? Man, I fucking hate EULAs.

Then again, I didn't really read the EULA when I installed Firefox. Selective paranoia, eh?

Google does not want rights to things you do using Chrome

Look diferent, will test him to see.

Ist just fun to see the new browser war !!! So i think google next will be to launch a complete os !

those fuckers stole the top 8 thumbnails idea from opera... so thank opera for it not google.

Their Terms state that you agree to allow Google Chrome to "filter" content.

I'll pass BIG TIME!

F Every Birkenstock wearing faggot at that campus.

I see Chrome as Firefox + Safari + Opera + bugs. I personally hate it. They're trying to reinvent the wheel. Noty.

I think it is ok now, I prefer FireFox but I think in about half a year or a year Chrome will have improved greatly. I hate the name "Chrome" though.

Opera have a speed dial where you select your favourite sites for easier access when opening the browser or a new tab. I have a FireFox addon which does the same thing, and I think Chrome should have it like that too.

Who cares if they stole it anyway, I'm only interested in who makes the better browser.
