Google declares war on content farms - CNN.com

With this move, Google is targeting content farms -- a common name for low quality sites whose main goal is to attract search traffic by piling up (mostly) useless content, usually by either producing large amounts of low-quality text or by copying it from websites with original content.

Looks like using the service providers to spin articles to their 500 blogs just became less effective.

Sorry, but someone had to do it...might as well be me

Who cares where the 500 blog posts rank in the SERPS. Maybe the value of the cheap and easy links will be discounted and maybe they won't.

Easy money shorting DMD at the open. Thanks G!

They actually didn't do as bad as you'd expect. In my data, ehow serps dropped an average of 6 positions while livestrong actually came out way ahead, gaining an average of 15 positions.

All the article directory type sites are down an average of over 30 positions per keyword. Sucks for them.

Yeah I have about 100,000 SERPs analyzed now. Everything on any of the article directories got wacked back an average of 3 pages.

We have a private deal with a site sending us traffic for email sign-ups. Good quality stuff all the way.

Just booming this week, 4 times the number of sign-ups as usual. Their SERPS went through the roof.

Happy, happy, happy
