Google declares war on content farms

Do you know what mahalo's numbers look like?

Google engineers have a hardon for Seth Godin.

Mahalo is at -18. They actually went from #1 to #3 for their own name.

Demand Media is kind of mixed. I think livestrong is actually around +14 or so off the top of my head. Ehow is -7 and another site they own, I forget the name is a -30.

what about profile links , do you guys think will be useful ( have same value ) as they where before?

reading comprehension, you should get some

ok sorry not to be a dick, but really - read the thread. This is about shitty content farms getting their rankings penalized. What does that have to do with the value of profile links?

if you wake up with rash on your dick, you google it. would you rather find results from ezinearticles or on webmd? get it?

What about wisegeek, anyone? I never hear them mentioned, but they must be included in this as well I'd imagine. And they actually pay their writers ~$12 for an article.

i thought there's no reason to start another thread to ask opinions about that . If you find my question irrelevant , feel free to skip it

Why are you hating so hard?

Long story...basically I got started online working for a firm that did work on ehow and livestrong and we got shifted over to demand and all took pay cuts and had to deal with their idiot editors.

interesting to see that article directories and the like got hit, but coupon sites and tube sites didn't. I wonder what set them apart?

My god man, zip it rightnow!

No one here is saying this isn't an appropriate place to post questions about other types of sites... We're all THINKING though that only a completely clueless moron who doesn't know google from a ouija board would link article directories links with profile links... There is nothing similar between them!

-Your spelling is atrocious
-Your panic level in this thread (where there are currently over a hundred banners making fun of people exactly like you) is laughable
-Your reading comprehension skills are WAY behind a 5th graders, &
-OMG your knowledge of linking and how google works is, well, let's just say lagging somewhere behind the wickedfire curve.

Everyone on this thread just did this when they read your last few posts:

I know Google said they updated their algo, but I really wonder if they didn't just start singling out specific sites.

It's seems that perhaps some content farms were targeted, Didn't squidoo get a big slap a couple years back ?

I have seen some strange shit going on in the last couple days, I have some very thin sites jumping up in the ranks and I would not say it's for quality content but for keyword domain names and original content that is still keyword rich and content poor, yea it's original but shitty none the less. Maybe there is a little more human involvement at google on the side while the new algo gets tuned. Slapping down the places like ezine and letting the algo pick up the slack.

As long as they all keep passing juice of some kind, not a single fuck will be given over here.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I will still get the links from the article directories, but now I won't have as many crappy articles outranking me for certain terms. Seems like a plus for me, since I don't really get that much direct traffic from articles anyway.

Most people I talk to say Demand sucks ass but I honestly don't come across their sites that much, and when I do the content isn't bad. As far as I know they pay a shitload to have unique content created for their sites. I can see stupid ass article directories like ezine articles get hammered since they are useless and have no original content whatsoever, but what about demand? Their content is pretty decent from what I can tell so I'm just curious why G would penalize them the same as other shitty sites with nothing but duplicate content?? I mean, is this a content farm slap or a duplicate/shitty content slap? There's nothing inherently wrong with a content farm, if it's good content... or is there?
