AFAIK this only for "logged-in" users? I don't know how it affects you? Can you please highlight?

Wtf...will this essentially wipe out tracking tools and force people to use Analytics??? I'm assuming they'll let Analytics track everything still of course. I know it's for logged in users only but I can see this being rolled out for everyone eventually...someone tell us otherwise please.

Just read the blog post -

What does this mean for sites that receive clicks from Google search results? When you search from https://www.google.com, websites you visit from our organic search listings will still know that you came from Google, but won't receive information about each individual query. They can also receive an aggregated list of the top 1,000 search queries that drove traffic to their site for each of the past 30 days through Google Webmaster Tools

Awww... Fuck!

it doesn't even force you to use GA, they're saying they won't report the referral data in your GA account either...they've been split testing this for over a year and analytics companies have been livid about it, but apparently Google (like everything else they do) doesn't give a flying fuck

seems like they are giving people less and less data to work with. even in adwords (though this isnt as recent) search query report doesn't tell you shit anymore. i hate google

Yeah this is fucking bullshit. I'm sure they will figure out a way to make it work in Analytics or GWT. This is not good at all for those of us in web mktg.

Anybody read about the new flow visualization google is adding to GA?

Google Announces Flow Visualization for Analytics

The almost simultaneous timing of the releases makes me think they are trying to subtly reinforce the message

For those that optimize to the keyword:

For those that optimize to the experience:

Only affects about 8-10% of searches...for now. Soon we'll have to use the old "fling shit at a wall and see what sticks" method of finding niches.
