I had a site that made $200 a day through the traffic received from Google, it was ranked #2 for a decent competitive field, and just 2 days ago they knocked it from to #70...

I figured it might have been because of the link exchange practices we had going, so I removed the reciprocal links and contacted them through Google Webmaster tools place for a "re inclusion request" which explained I was knocked down, and worst of all I think the reason is the links, I had around 30-40 on 1 page, thats it.

Not too bad, I don't think, the site is 2 years old, and has been ranking well for the last 3-6 months...any ideas of anything else I can do or anyone else ever experience this? know how long I have to wait?

ok smart guy, any idea how long itll take to get back up after those links are removed? and what to do (that i havent done?)

Don't take my word for it but you should probably move on to Plan B because it's over between you and Google. Doubt if they'll ever reinstate your site/account because you violated their policies. Hopefully you didn't have all your eggs in one basket because they're not sending you any last check.

That's a bit harsh.

1. You've just moved down the SERPS. You're not banned.
2. You've got rid of offending content
3. They were just 40 reciprocal links(?)
[4. Asking for re-inclusion is unnecessary, unless ...
5. You got the -30 penalty, which is done by hand.]
6. Google doesn't owe you top spot, could just be the Google Everflux.

[ Probably not pertinent, as you're -70, not -30, but interestin':
The "Minus 30" Penalty Revisited ]

I'd say wait a couple of weeks.

Depending on the site, you might just be up against an algorithm change.
Then it migth "just" be an uphill struggle for a while.

Look at your SEO strategy, look at your competition (did their position change?), build content, backlinks, etc..

In terms of onpage content you should just wait a week or two. Google can be unpredictable. But that's no reason not to spend time building more links. :)

Google dance? I'd return it to it's original state and see what happens... the SERPs are often volatile during an update.

they were all kinds of links and yes it was only 30 links or so on 1 PR4 internal page and I am not selling links or anything else, also it is -60/-70 or so, every other site has remained in its spot....

Well theres not much I can do but move on, this summers been a bitch, first MFA account disabled now even WH sites...ugh square 1 for me.

You really do need to give it some time before you change anything on page. Shit moves all the time.

Well, here's something to consider..
1. Were the links you got paid links?
2. Were you selling links too?
3. Were the links coming to your site relevant to your topic, or just based on PR?
4. Did you make any big change on your pages/site recently?
5. Did you recently launch an inbound link campaign that added more than 25 links a week/month? Were they relevant? Did they come from new or old sites?

There are tons of questions to be answered. Personally, if I were you, I'd sit tight, maybe remove some of the onpage links, especially if they are paid, because you are most likely NOT a trusted site, so you have to worry about things like paid links.

Also.. what type of site is it?

yes we got 25+ non relevant links within a week
no changes were done to the site besides adding reciprocal links to that 1 page.
and we have 0 paid links.

The same thing happened to me with one of my sites...after about 6 months of link building / optimization / content updates ect I was ranking at the top of google serps...this lasted 5 weeks or so then BOOM i got knocked down to the 50th page and I hadn't changed a thing....so I just continued to plug away and sure enough after 3 months i'm back at the top again...I think this is normal fluctuation as google's algo changes all the time...hang in there and i'm sure you'll be back to the top again..hopefully it won't take 3 months for you tho
