Google not showing my ad

Hello,
My first post with a noob question. I have a keyword in adwords which shows a few thousand impressions and a low position (currently 3.6), yet when I hover my mouse over the magnifying glass it says 'We are unable to show your ad because your bid for this keyword auction is too low.'

This is a bit different than the message I am used to which says 'Although your ad is showing, its rank is not high enough to place it on the first page of search results.'

Anyone know why I am getting that first message saying my ad is not showing when it is getting many impressions?

Hmmm....If you do a search for that keyword, do you see your ad?

I think you just need to up your bid.
