Should've named it SERP lift xD. Well anyways, I'm just excited because once I get a decent PR, I can make some money selling some links and shit. That's all I'm really excited about.
I actually was thinking the same thing, that public PR will never update. How long has it been now? Like 8 months? I'd be surprised if they ever update it again TBH. It causes them way more problems than it's worth. They could take link buying/selling to the slaughterhouse if they just did away with PR. Then people would actually have to use their brains when buying links instead of looking at the stupid green bar.
SEOMoz would immediately step in with their pagestrength tool - it's more accurate already.
Trifecta is even better to measure them.

for most link buyers, I dont think it'll matter. If it's not Google Pr, it'll likely be another form of measure. If googles does away from PR, i'm sure a different outfit will come out with some indicator, from a business/authority standpoint, what good does that do for google?
I do expect google to continue update the PRs, just not as often as it use to, maybe once a year or something.
I sure hope they keep updating PR.
For me, it keeps the n00bs chasing after the holy grail while I dig up under-valued treasure that they snuff at.
For Google it helps them gather more information on people by driving them to install the toolbar. (as has been smartly noted in this thread)
Plus, I've made decent money selling links. Especially in the gambling industry; where there is no advertising for online gambling sites except through rankings and link buying is rampant.
The only thing I don't like about toolbar PR is explaining why it doesn't matter to SEO clients.
@ those thinking I'll reveal the site; you mad. But... I will say it is in the gambling niche.
I just realized that if they never update PR again, I'm going to have to spam every site on the internet, just to cover my bases.

I AM CERTAIN GOOGLE IS DOING SOMETHING RIGHT NOW BECAUSE I HAVE 3 SITES in Top 12 positions FOR AN EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE NICHE AND THEY ARE NOT MOVING ANYWHERE!!!

With all the investment and time i've put in to occupy top 3 positions for my niche!
I hope they get back on track fast! =( I should be 1, 2 & 3
