Has G's position always been this or is it something that is kinda being slipped in to be hammered later:

At around the 49.56 mark, Mueller replies to the participant saying: “Generally speaking, if you’re submitting articles for your website, or your clients’ websites and you’re including links to those websites there, then that’s probably something I’d nofollow because those aren’t essentially natural links from that website. If you are journalist, you might be writing about a web site in a natural way… that is of course, okay.”
He backs this up in a second video at around the 31.19 mark by saying: “Think about whether or not this is a link that would be on that site if it weren’t for your actions there. Especially when it comes to guest blogging, that’s something where you are essentially placing links on other people’s sites together with this content, so that’s something I kind of shy away from purely from a linkbuilding point of view.”
“I think sometimes it can make sense to guest blog on other peoples’ sites and drive some traffic to your site because people really liked what you are writing and they are interested in the topic and they click through that link to come to your website but those are probably the cases where you’d want to use something like a rel=nofollow on those links.”

Guest Bloggers: Time To No=Follow Those Links? Bubble Jobs Blog | Bubble Jobs

Week 1: Google says, "Guest blogging A-OK! Have fun!"

Week 2: Google says, "Guest blogging is bad! Have fun!"

Week 3: Google says. "Guest blogging A-OK! Have fun!"

Since Google's main priority is to keep people from solving their ranking metrics, I think they're doing a good job.

But, let's be serious here, how bad do you really think a guest article and dofollow link from Mashable is going to be for you?

So don't include an author bio or have the words "guest post" or anything near the post and you should be fine. The other site needs to know that you want this to go up like any other post.

This.

Google must hate that there is not much they can do about this if the guest blogger does it the smart way. Unless they are just going to trash the whole backlinks as a ranking factor concept completely. :thefinger:

I think they are taking this part way to serious. People need to market their shit and the further away from reality they get the worse they will relate to the guy out there hustling.

This is complete iddiocy. Why would someone hustle an article on someones blog for them to say ok, were going to NF your link, "oh ya I totally understand that, I was hoping you would say you would no follow my link"

WTF is that faggotry or what?

...bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking, and it is accompanied by significant social or occupational dysfunction.

Remember that thing I told you to do before? Don't do it. Or wait do it, but only our way. If you don't do it right we might punish you but we wont tell you how or when so you will never know why. We are your friend, let's work together. But we wont talk to you.
