So, if my website does not come up first when I search for
www.whateverwebsiteaddress.com
Does that mean it is penalized or could that just be a google dance? I see some of my pages on the first page when I do that but not the homepage. I also noticed my homepage was on page 19 of google and now it is nowhere to be found at all for the same keyword search today.

Probably negative SEO - you should log a reconsideration request with Google via webmaster tools.

yeah, just paid $1,300 in the BST to have links built on this new site. I haven't received any messages in google webmaster acct saying link building penalty or anything. I guess that is why I thought it may be temporary thing. I guess I will try to diversify my anchor text and see what happens before I let Google know I realize I am over optimizing.

If its a new domain and you just started building links...just wait it out for a bit.

jhoffy22: some of my inner pages do show up when i search like that, just not my homepage. Thanks treezie, I am just stressing a lot because this is a site I am building with a partner (who invested the money) and I just want to make sure I didn't completely kill the site.
